@Andy Same here. I saw this yesterday when Cliffy B posted it on Twitter. But I didn't realize it was an opening. I thought it was just a trailer recapping the series. Oh well!

I have never thought Gears capitalized in terms if its narrative on the potential of its game world. Gears 2 attempted to do a better job, but it was still lacking in exploring the relationship between the Locusts and the planet. If they lived underground, what drove them to the surface? Who was Marcus' father exactly and what is his relationship with the locusts? Gears 2 barely touched upon these issues. I hope Gears 3 does a better job answering all of these questions.
I'm not watching it personally, however the header of Dom getting a new tat over his old one is straight from Anvil Gate, the third book in the GOW series. Seeing it is awsome, I cannot wait for the game and book 4 which come out the same day I think
