Meh. So, today I found out that The Conduit has a story. My reaction was initially restricted to that simple, italicized word. I don’t expect first-person shooters to blow my mind. In fact, I don’t want an FPS to be interpretative or carry deep meaning. But, hey, High Voltage -- we’ve killed aliens before. How about a twist?
Perhaps I’m being unfair considering that my information has come from a trailer Sega recently passed around. (You can view it after the break.) I haven’t had the opportunity to play through the entire game yet. There could a F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin moment hiding in it somewhere.
I digress. The Conduit’s story -- as explained in the trailer -- goes something like this: A big “weather system” hovers over Washington D.C. Then, people starting getting a mysterious flu bug. And finally, aliens attack. Awesome.
Killzone 2's single player campaign was pretty lame, the multiplayer redeems it though. as for F.E.A.R. 2's ending... now that was interesting. i was like, oh? oh, ohhhhh. oh no.
They've said that it's supposed to have a twist, though something along the lines of typical governmental conspiracy. But we can't know for sure until we've played the game, as I imagine that they wouldn't want to spoil whatever surprising story element they've got.
The Killzone series actually has a great storyline that you can find on their website. The problem was Killzone 2 didn't tell the story very well at all.
This game, like Killzone 2, has potential to tell a great story. I only hope they don't drop the ball.
I'll agree, this may be good. I'm hoping it is because I haven't played my Wii in ages due to gimmicky shit games. I'd be willing to check this out, even though friends codes suck the big one.
Looks cool, and its starting to get that "epic" feel to it. They have shown us a lot about the Conduit so far, but I'm sure it'll have some twist, and way more story lines to it that HVS haven't shown us yet. I mean did anyone honestly think it wouldn't have a story?
I think it's ,supposed to be cliched. High Voltage probably knows, if they've got a brain, that all of these elements have been used before in other stories.

Brad, considering you said you don't expect FPS games to be interpretative or carry deep meaning, what is your opinion about BioShock?
Beat me to it.
He just said he doesn't expect them to be, that's different than saying all of them don't.
