Storm Shadow lives: Lost Planet 'actor' signed for upcoming G.I. Joe film photo

Here's something you might not have known: Lost Planet's lead character, the horrendously named Wayne, was modeled after a Japanese television actor. The Korean-born Byung-hun Lee has won a slew of awards and has made the ladies swoon since his acting debut in 1991.

Here's something I certainly didn't know: THEY'RE MAKING A G.I. JOE MOVIE, WTF!? Why does it take the official Capcom US blog for me to know this information? Shouldn't I have been informed the moment the rights to this film were optioned? If anything, someone should be compensating me for all of that time I spent as a child trying to find a Storm Shadow figure. That bugger was next to impossible to find.

The point (and I do have one): Lee has been signed to play the role of Storm Shadow in the upcoming film, which is set for release in August 2009 (according to the ever-reliable IMDB). He'll be joined by Sienna Miller as The Baroness and Ray Park (X-Men's Toad) as Snake Eyes.

Please don't suck. And sign me to play Cobra Commander. Please.

[Thanks, Mark!]

It's gonna be so bad. They are putting Action Man in it as well! Latinoreview has a script review. It looks horrible!

I hope this stays true to the generation 1 version of G.I. Joe unlike what the new Transformers movie did.

@lemon

you never finished Lost Planet because you had better things to accomplish with your time such as puking in a toilet or taking the training wheels off.

i hope the movie ends, and before the credits they teach the crowd a useful lesson like in the cartoons.

Does the director's description make you hot?

G.I. Joe is now a Brussels-based outfit that stands for Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, an international co-ed force of operatives who use hi-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil organization headed by a double-crossing Scottish arms dealer. The property is closer in tone to X-Men and James Bond than a war film.

Yeah. Me neither. Where's Cobra Commander? How did Destro get to be in charge? And the only kick-ass thing to come from Brussels is Van Damme.

Cobra Commander will pop up for the inevitable sequel, I'm sure. Or appear partway through the film as the man behind the scenes. If there's Destro, there's hope for the Crimson Guard though.

In any case, none of it will matter when they finally do the GI Joe/Transformers crossover.

Tell me that doesn't make you hard.

of course this will suck ;)

I never really got into GI Joe, so that doesn't bother me, but Ray Park was also Darth Maul in ep1, so hopefully they just turn his character into some alien with a double bladed lightsaber that just goes mental on the whole cast.

I suppose that's why they dont let me make movies ;)

Darth Maul aside , Ray Park is a fantastic martial artist and I'm damn sure he will suit the char accordingly. Now as for the rest of the movie...well I posted my rant in my blog a while back.

Dude. A Rainbow Six film gets made, and yet GI JOE (a real AMERICAN hero) gets to be all about an international task force?

LAYM.

Yea I just don't see this being done right from what I've heard about it. If they would, like I say, "keep it simple stupid," this could be a very good movie.

A bad ass special forces team with futureistic weapons battles a terrorist organization bent on world domination, sounds a lot better than "G.I.

The hell, G.I. Joe isn't a war movie? Wrong, wrong, wrong people. I dont' want to see a bunch of James Bonds in suits fighting a terrorist organization. I wanna see bad ass soliders blowing the shit out of the terrorists.
