It's been a big week of deals from Amazon, what with their whole "Prelude to Black Friday" thing going on. Earlier in the week, the retailer did a huge sale of games under twenty dollars that had a lot of fantastic bargains. Today, they're doing it again, sort of. Not really.
We do have a selection of games under twenty bucks, though there is a lot more junk in here than before. Which isn't to say there are no gems. Lost Planet 2 and Darksiders are both on the list for either PS3 or Xbox 360, as is Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City. And the 360 version of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is available for a mere ten dollars, making it seem silly for me not to buy.
Also, don't forget the lightning deal. Today's clue is: "The story behind a legendary Nintendo protagonist is revealed." So, yeah, Metroid: Other M is probably a lock. Whether the discount applied is significant enough to make the purchase worthwhile remains to be seen, as the deal goes live at 10 AM Pacific.
Prelude to Black Friday [Amazon]
After doing a fairly poor job of letting people know when they're holding a sale, imagine my surprise as an email from EA arrived in my inbox letting me know there's a 50% off sale on Origin. Battlefield 3, Mass Effect 3 and ... Steam's free weekend promotions are great ways of getting some great hands-on time with games you might have not considered buying. There's two on offer this weekend: Sid Meier's Civilization V and Saints Row: The Third are b... Hamza's already let us know that both DmC and the Alan Wake franchise are reduced this weekend on Steam but that's not all that Valve's service has to offer. Both Primal Carnage and ORION: Dino Horde are free to play this wee... Torchlight II was my favorite game of 2012 and if you haven't sampled its brilliant loot-driven action, then GamersGate knocking 50% off its price (and 75% off its predecessor) should be tempting. GOG.com has a range of moder... While the Xbox One may have been appealing to some non-gamers, the gaming community reacted in a unified, "not interested" front, much to the chagrin of Microsoft. Now that people are disinterested in whatever Microsoft is pe... GamersGate has got a glut of offers on this weekend, reducing the Jagged Alliance games and the Men of War franchises by up to 75%. Also on GamersGate, Metro 2033 is cut down by 66% off its usual price. Over on GreenManG... You should already have seen that Black Ops II is free to play this weekend and 33% off to own, and the Bit.Trip games are reduced all week so it just leaves me to tell you that Trials Evolution: Gold Edition is 25% off this ... Back in the day before EA was getting voted the worst company in America, it was publishing pretty stellar PC games. Some of those games are reduced by 60% in GOG.com's weekend sale, including the Ultima, Dungeon Keeper and W... Along with cutting Brutal Legend to half price and taking 75% off the price of Defense Grid: The Awakening, Steam has a weekend promotion running on games from Rockstar. Each day will see a new franchise reduced, so right now... If you haven't played Portal 2 on PC, then you have no excuse -- none I tell you -- not to pick it up with a 75% price cut on Steam.
