A few months back, I had a conversation with Mark Rein about Sony's LittleBigPlanet, which immediately launched him into a calm speech about how the Unreal Engine 3.0 could do that. The Unreal Engine 3.0, he pitched, could do anything.
Well about about a wrestling game? This first gameplay trailer for TNA Impact! is one of the few examples of the engine doing powering something other than a first or third-person shooter. The end result is impressive, too. I had a chance to play the game last night, and the smooth 60 frames-per-second visuals are a testament to what the engine can do outside of angry, muscular dudes with guns. Here we have angry, muscular dudes in tights. It's all about versatility.
Like I said earlier, check back for my full hands-on preview of the title over the next few days.
I gotta say it looks kinda interesting to say the least. Though I think the mo-cap vid they put out is funny in a way. For some reason when I see Samoa Joe in a mo-cap suit, I can't help but think he looks like a husky cat-burglar with a bathing cap on.
