Steam's having a ludicrous holiday sale photo

If you log in to Twitter and see a bunch of Tweets saying "Just bought Indigo Prophecy," as I did this evening, there's a very good reason. It's because the thing costs $3.39 on Steam right now. With Christmas around the corner, Valve has announced a Steam sale that I would be tempted to call stupid, it's so full of neat stuff.

Indigo Prophecy is but one of the many games going for silly prices right now, and I highly recommend the purchase to anybody yet to play Quantic Dream's last big game. If you're a user of Valve's digital service, you really need to make a point of checking it out. Don't worry, Destructoid will still be here when you get back. If you get back.

The Steam Holiday Sale is on now through Sunday, January 3, 2010. This year's sale has begun earlier than years past so gamers can save big on last-minute shopping via Steam's Gifting functionality. Gamers can save up to 80% on select titles, with daily and week-long specials running during the promotion.

Steam is a leading platform for the delivery and management of PC games with over 20 million accounts worldwide and over 1,000 games. For more information, please visit www.steamgames.com

Bought STALKER and the Borderlands DLC. Eight bucks total. Still considering getting AaaaaAAAA(etc).
Also, there are LOTS of good indie games for sale. And GTA4 is going for like seven bucks. Holy crap.

that's not even the craziest thing they're selling. I think the entire eidos pack for 50 bucks is just insane.

You mean to tell me that they're selling batman along with all the hitman games, as well as MINI NINJAS?! Holy cow!!!

Oh Steam, you sure love to go apeshit huh?

I'm thinking, so far:

Indigo Prophecy
Deus Ex
Beyond Good and Evil
Aquaria

Anyone got input on Aquaria? I'm still on the fence about that...

IF you buy Indigo Prophecy, enjoy it, seriously, the first half of this game is amazing, BUT

(SPOILER)
The moment Agatha dies, just shut the fucking game off, because it's all downhill from there. You will never know what happened that cold winter night, but the taste of it that you did have will still be good.

I have never had a game make me hate it so much like Indigo Prophecy did with the second half of that game.

MACHINARIUM AND TORCHLIGHT

These are 2 "shut the hell up and buy it" games. Especially Machinarium.

I really hope there's something I don't have for sale in order to soothe the excruciating pain of having just bought Indigo Prophecy last week at full price.

I got the lucas arts adventure pack, crayon physics and indigo prophecy. I'm on the fence about Machinarium because I already have a crap ton of adventure games to play right now (not even counting the 4 in the pack I just bought) and I bet it will be on sale again some time in the future, maybe even for less than it is right now.

Bah, noticed Machinarium was 10 bucks... added it... then saw Deus Ex and figured getting it on steam for 6 bucks is easier than reinstalling it from a disc...

Tried to check out... saw Torchlight was still $10... thought I'd missed the deal. Added that.

Then I closed squinted my eyes so I couldn't see very well and hit the purchase button before I got tempted to buy anything else.

Everyone should play Indigo Prophecy. The first half is one of the best games I've ever played. Too bad the second half is off the wall bananas batshit crazy jump the shark awful. Still, it's worth playing for the excellent first half.

Aquaria for $10 is pretty goddamn pimp. Gorgeous game. You can get all of Frozenbyte's games for like $12 between the Shadowgrounds pack and Trine being on sale. I like their stuff.

Ridiculous sale is ridiculous.

And everyone remotely interested in RPGs need to get Torchlight, especially after the recent update that includes Steam Cloud support.

Two things unmentioned: Lucasarts adventure pack (both Indiana Jones games, Loom, and The Dig), as well as both Oddworld: Abe's etc games for 2.50$. And Audiosurf for 2.50$ For 7.50$ you could get the best music game, and six of the best adventure type games.

I'll probably buy those two packs, Stalker (finally), Braid (on PC), Trine, and maybe something else. It's hard for me to resist games below 5$.
