Those arent as stupidly pricey as 360 controllers are they?
This is pretty cool and ill try it out, but probably just stick with regular setup.
But this is really cool. I especially like their solution for typing with a gamepad. Makes a lot more sense than MS's. Still, it would be nice to just be able to use my 360's Chatpad with PC.
@TheMaud:
They ARE 360 controllers. Which aren't stupidly priced at all. They are damn nice and worth the money. Also, 360 gamers switching over can just use their existing controllers- even if they are wireless, for about $15 on Amazon there is a little USB device that lets you sync them to your PC instead.
I didn't realize someone made a driver for it. Last time I checked there was no way to use it with PC. I only have wireless controller though, so no go for me.
The main reason this is a 'thing' is because alot of gamers out there dont really have their gaming PC set up in their living room alongside their consoles. And since living room setups arent always as accommodating to PC gamers as they are console gamers, this is a nice attempt to blend the two things together.
Im sure that is very helpful but im not much of a techie so alot of that was greek for me...^^ I have a 360 and i understand you can use that with Big screen? How would i get that to work through my computer tho, i need to buy something i assume?

It's because you can only buy knock-offs of the wireless adaptor now like the one I have. MS did have an official version out that was plug and play, but they discontinued it for whatever reason.
The current player is not probably their long-term target with this. As set-top boxes and smart TVs become more powerful, Steam can slip right on in their depending on the architecture. At the moment it's just neat, but if they pull it off, it could result in some nice extra market penetration for them.

"50 million of your closest friends"
Yup, Steam is past the 50 million mark. Last report was that it had passed 40 million in January. At this rate it will catch up with the number of 360/PS3 units sold (about 65 million each) within the next year. Probably sooner if Steam TV is the hit I think it will be.
Yum.
This is an opening targeting to make the transition of a console gamer to PC gaming more easy.
Valve tries to expand PC gaming,and well... their costumers.

What worries me is the possibility that FPS games might start implementing 360 only control method and ditch mouse+kbd controls. That'd be awful.
