Steam registry entry suggests fabled Alan Wake PC version photo

We had nearly given up hope that Alan Wake would ever grace PCs, but the spotting of a Steam registry entry for the game (via NeoGAF) has me feeling pretty good. This method has been reliable enough in the past, particularly when it comes to figuring out what the next indie game bundles will contain.

With the announcement of American Nightmare still fresh on the mind, I'm eager to become Alan Wake once more. Actually, it's been long enough that I'd be down for another playthrough of the original game if a PC release happened beforehand. We're ready for this, Remedy. Let's do it.

[Thanks, Vallanthaz]

If this is true then there is no reason I need to own an Xbox 360.

Makes sense if they want to port American Nightmare to PC eventually.

If they would charge 15 or 20 dollars for this, they'd make a killing. I have no doubt that this would totally reinvigorate the franchise.

Fucking loved that game.

I'm pretty excited if this is going to happen, Alan Wake is one of the games that I really wanted and never went to PC

More Wake is good, very good. I can't wait for American Nightmare and I'll even rebuy the game on steam to see how it plays on my new PC, if it's really a thing.

Sounds great. I don't have an Xbox anymore, I will buy this as long as it's also retail and doesn't require Steam to play the game.

Amazing if true. This is one of the few games that make me wish I had a 360, and I'll definitely play it if it comes to PC.

It's funny but I bought my 360 for Alan wake, beat it and then sold it for a loss of $10 and my 260 has been sitting since.

I will buy on PC for sure and if not then I guess my 360 would get it's second game, lol.

Pretty sure nobody cares about Alan Wake all that much ever since the design went from this really intriguing open world mysterious high-tech game to some third person horror game you beat in 10 hours or less.

The whole no-PC version was an outcry when people didn't know how the actual game played as a whole. When it basically was just a neat little take on Dead Space except without the Sci-Fi, I lost interest.

Not saying its a bad game, but at this point in time I highly doubt anyone cares about it anymore, even if it would be released tomorrow on PC.

Always good to see more games on PC, but this game looked pretty bad.

Sonic 4 Episode 1 has also been found in the Steam registry. That I'd like to check out after enjoying Generations so much.

Alan Wake took 14 hours for me to beat, that's at least 3 times longer than most non-sandbox games these days. Did you actually read Remedy's reason to abandon the old dseign? It made a lot of sense for the sake of the game. It's not like there would have been any sidequesting to do, the giant world only slowed the pace of the story and made the game uneven.

Also, saying "Pretty sure nobody cares about Alan Wake" does not make any sense when your comment is the only sort-of negative comment here. I say sort-of since you still enjoyed the game, but compared to the other comments it's the most negative ones.

I'd buy it again on PC, in fact, I'm the kind of guy who rebought it on Games on Demand just to support Remedy and AW even though I still have my original copy.

I made terrible mistake and played Alan Wake after Deadly Premonition.
Great design awesome landscapes, stuning lighting effects but cheap storyline and weird in bad way ending :/
I never scared of Baba Jaga as a kid.

well alan wake was supposed to be a pc exclusive in the first place so this isn't that strange. maybe m$ wanted to delay it a little on pc because they make more out of a game sold on the 360 than one sold on pc but they still need windows as gaming platform to no be overrun by apple and possibly linux in the future (looking at how the distros are developing it is not that unimaginable that at some point linux reaches the level of ease of other platforms and starts taking over some of the desktop/laptop share).

I'll buy it at a high price.

Seriously though, if this happens (along with American Nightmare) then I'll just throw my 360 in the garbage can. Or I'll throw it to the peasants.

Now if only Red Dead Redemption would come to PC also...

JUST as I predicted in loads of places around these interwebs. It was simply a matter of time. "Exclusive" does not mean what it used to mean anymore. It started out being a vastly superior PC title anyway. MS understandably just wanted to exploit it's 360 "exclusivity" for whatever time period that they could. Greedy businessmen.

That said, I will buy it if it reaches the 14.99 mark. Maaaaaayyyybe 19.99. Maybe.

They had to practically GIVE Alan Wake away after a certain point. I bought my copy as a digital code off of eBay (they packed them in with most new Xbox 360s for a while) for no more than $5.

It... kind of feels like an Arcade game. Good, but not amazingly deep or to be taken too seriously. CORNBALL is the word I'm looking for.
