Steam goes insane, offers The Orange Box for $10 photo

If you don't own The Orange Box by now, why not? This weekend's Steam deal is 66% off the normal $29.99 asking price, so you really have no excuse for not owning the collection of damn fine Valve games.

Half-Life 2, Episode One, Episode 2, Lost Coast, Portal, and Team Fortress 2 ... for $10. Crazy, isn't it? I'm extremely curious to see what kind of effect this is going to have on sales, because I am a huge nerd, obviously. But beyond that, it could mean good things for the future.

Maybe we'll be lucky enough to have Valve divulge how big of a boost in sales The Orange Box will have received from this sale, but I'm not counting on it. Something tells me the company might use the data to push the idea of massive price reductions for absurd profits on other publishers, which would be fantastic for us consumers.

Now I need a way to pay for this stuff online... Seriously though, I would gladly pay $50 or $40 for the OB, but this is fantastic.

Yeah I got OB for PS3 aswell. But since my PC can now run games like this....I dunno if I should get this, I want Episode 3!!!! *pouting face*

Man, if only the Psn and Xbla had sales like this.....

I'm even more tempted to buy it cause of half life mode I've heard of. I'm still waiting for a Garrys Mod sale too!

F*ck me I've already got the Orange Box on 360 (and Portal from XBLA as well - sad I know) but for this price I'd have to be a flaming MORON not to get it for the PC too.

Wtf? Piss people off? I preordered the orange box. I paid $45 US for it. And i got it nearly two years ago. This is exactly what I want game devs to do, just like consoles. You pay for the privilege of getting it quickly. If people want to wait for great prices, good for them. Ill just kick their newbie asses at TF2 :P.

Thanks for the hint! My friends have been telling me to buy the Orange Box for about 6 months already and now I get this deal. Yay, Valve! (The downside is that I had already paid full price for Portal, but it's still a deal...)

This is great news I was just feeling my shame for not owning this collection yet and now I can absolve myself (and just did) with this great sale! While I tend to be a retail box buyer since I cannot seem to let go of physical copies this sale just is to good to pass up.
