Sure, why not? Steam is getting a dedicated app for Android and iOS devices that allows you to chat with friends, look over screenshot galleries, read gaming news, and more. Perhaps most important of all, it also lets you check out Steam sales. Okay, now its existence is justified.
Those looking to sign up for the closed beta can do so by downloading the free app now and logging into their Steam account from there.

the headline states "closed beta". if you try to login a message pops up informing you that valve will consider your request to be added to the beta.
Been wanting an app like this for ages, now it's a thing :D
All I get when I search for "valve corporation" is a couple of versions of some game called Balloonia
I could see benefit for publishers in having their mobile games listed on Steam's website, and it also opens the possibility of selling the mobile version of a game in the same place as the PC/Mac version(and even possibly adding those mobile versions to SteamPlay.. ie.. buy Plants vs. Zombies and you get it for PC/Mac/Android for one price.)
