Steam achievements and new content on Unreal Tournament 3's horizon photo

Do you or anyone you know still play Unreal Tournament 3 on PC? Drop what you are doing and listen up, for an enormous patch containing the gaming equivalent of the cure for cancer and a new bonus content pack are on the horizon.

The patch, which contains no more than one billion individual items, can be viewed here. Most notable, at least from the perspective of an achievement-lover such as myself, is the inclusion of 57 Steam achievements the update will bring.

But all of that is only part one in the grand scheme of things. Part two, dubbed the Titan Pack, is said to be "substantially bigger than any bonus pack" Epic Games has previously released.

I'm sure this is very exciting for the several avid UT3 players in the audience. I haven't managed to pull myself away from UT2004's addicting grip long enough to progress up to UT3, but that's just me.

Wat? I thought Epic hated the PC coz' everyone is a pirate thar? I've got a normal retail copy of UT III sitting around somewhere... it was OK. I guess I should try running it on this computah or something.

Funny, I just bought this last night on Steam. Good timing I guess.

Not too shabby. I wonder if it will come to the PS3 or 36... ah who am I kidding, I mean just the PS3?

Got it for both PS3 and PC, in that order. Haven't even installed the PC version, so I'm glad I have a good reason.

meh, I preferred UT2k4 the dodge/jump mechanics were second to none. if anyone has this game (ut2k4) Look for a map called the "Temple of trials" this map alone should blow your mind in the versatility of the players in that game. (Wall jumping, dodge jumping, wall-dodge jumping.. it's quite in depth)
The temple map forces you to learn how to use these mechanics to their fullest.. and it's not even an Epic Games map!

oh sadistic I remember how you used to kick our asses in that game

I as well am still going strong with 2004. Maybe I should move to UT3 now?

@anevilbunny:
I've played the new one on the xbox and PS3.. They've removed the dodge and jump mechanics.. which makes for a more boring game in my opinion. I honestly didn't like UT until I found out that they put these neat dodge-jump mechanics in.
Also: the shock rifle looks like crap when compared to the 2k4 one.
and also also: try playing EXCESSIVE UT2k4. it's a BLAST.

i've beaten sadistic once outta the 3 times i've played with him, i'm really good at that game but i hope a ps3 patch comes, its been far too long since i played it and a new patch would force me back into it.

I think thats the problem they had with ut3 really, its not different enough to previous iterations to get too many new players, and its different enough in the small ways the hardcore players care about to deter such players to move on. But perhaps if theyre gonna support it well (and probably not so much the older games) people will give it a try.

Patch sounds awesome. Bought Unreal Deal Pack on steam for $20 over the holidays, but haven't played any of the games much. Once the update roles around I'll be sure to reinstall it though. And the bonus pack sounds promising too, so long as being in Microsoft's pocket for so long hasn't rubbed off and they actually try to CHARGE for new maps on PC.

Man that's a game I haven't picked up in a very long time. I probably wont be used to the super fast pace of the game anymore considering all the slower first person shooters I've been playing. UT3 is great.

This is pretty rad.

Also, can we please get an auto-updater? Seriously, Epic. What the fuck?

The Vehicles in UT3 are so much fun.

Seeing as I'm working on a UT3 mod for class, I'm both excited and worried. I fear that about half of the work already finished will have to be redone. We'll see.

Now I'm glad I nabbed it when it was only $14 on Steam just recently.

Removed the Doge/Jump mechanic? I'm not following you too well, but I dodge and double jump just fine. And if you mean that weird dodge then jump (while still in mid dodge) then oh well. Never missed it and the game is fast enough as is. I hope more people play though, those that do are mostly elitist pricks.

After coming off of TF2 into UT3, it's quite a different game, and too many people I've played with just don't want to put up with noobs and stack teams with known associates against nubs. Lucky for me I'm a persistent bastard who likes a challenge. But I believe that to be the primary reason many don't play. First few experiences are filled with insults and name calling (beyond the fun sportsman like humor in gaming).

"Merged PC version script functionality to PS3 to improve mod compatibility for mods on PS3."

That would be some kind of awesome, if there were any mods worth installing in the first place :|

What I'd like is better bot customization, ala UT99. Fiddling with Accuracy, Preferred weapons, Tendencies to be jumpy/campers, etc. Made for great Bot Training. Also, Where the hell is my DM-Morpheus map, Assault and Bombing Run mode at? These three things better be on the top of the list for this Titan pack, or I'm gonna cry.

I'd really love it if Epic would ALREADY patch the crashing problem some people, like I, have been having. I'm mostly interested in modding, but that won't be possible if the program seems to decide when it wants to crash or when it doesn't want to start at all.

Sure there are two solutions available for people with ATI hardware, but I'm using Geforce 8600GTS.

Man, I love all of UT so much. UT3 was so much fun for its new vehicles. Those vehicles are just so amazing.
