Who saw this coming?
According to
Gamesindustry.biz, UK based video game retailer GAME is claiming a 25% spike in
Crackdown pre-orders since Microsoft announced the
Halo 3 beta tie-in.
GAME's buying director, Alex Croft, is then quoted as mentioning how
Halo 3 is one of the most anticipated games of 2007 and their customers are "hungry to get hold of it." The beta initiative, he says, is a great way for gamers to influence the development of
Halo 3, and to ensure a top-quality title. What he does not mention at all, is Realtime World's
Crackdown (which by all recent accounts is apparently a really great game).
While the
Halo 3 beta is most likely the reason for the rise in pre-orders, the idea that product awareness might be the cause isn't even entertained. You'd be surprised how many people, even at this point, had never heard of
Crackdown before advertisements starting hitting the media. You'd also be surprised at the number of people who don't know what "beta testing" is, either.
I don't know about you, but I'm buying
Crackdown to play
Crackdown. Am I the only one around here who isn't drooling all over themselves in anticipation of a $59.99 limited-time beta?
I bought ZoE just because it had that bonus dvd, after playing the demo 3 or 4 times, I tried the game, and while it wasnt something that would mark my life, it was a good and fun game, with a rather strange and dissapointing end, but a fun game to play even, in the 1 vs 1 multiplayer.
I heard about this game before the Halo Beta thingie, but after seeing some information I just forgot about it disregarding it as another GTA game. The news and the videos that came after made me change my mind a litle, but if it wasnt for the Beta, I probably wouldn't had preordered mine, maybe bought it from the shelf if good reviews were behind the game.
Halo 3 is a shiny version of the first two games.
same weapons, landscape, vehicles, not a single thing i have seen thus far says bungie added anything diffrent to the mix
But hey all is forgiven because of a bubble shield. is that not what kept you from harm in the first two games? lol
I want to like H3. but Iv'e been given no reason to join everyones little hype train. for now Halo 3 can suck it.
I really don't give a shit about Halo, but I am really looking forward to Crackdown. Hopefully these beta shenanigans don't delay me from getting my hands on the game at launch due to Halo nerds scooping up all the copies.
You make a great point, it would be really upsetting if anyone misses out on a copy of Crackdown because of the stupid Halo fans
I'm sure Crackdown will be a good game along with Halo 3. But IMO Halo is the most overrated series ever. It's just another generic FPS. It doesn't even try to bring anything new to the genre. It's all shiny graphics and polished presentation over innovative or enjoyable gameplay.
