Starpoint Gemini II will be a space sim/RPG hybrid

Control your starship in glorious 3D

Little Green Men Games has launched a website for its upcoming space strategy game, Starpoint Gemini II. While this title will have a lot of the usual space exploration, mining, trading, and fighting, it also has a strong focus on role-playing mechanics. The player will control a single ship and level up their captain and ship as they progress through the story.

There is a main quest that the player can choose to follow, or they can wander off and do pretty much anything they want. The goal is to bring the game into a full 3D environment and upgrade the mechanics of 2010's Starpoint Gemini.

I'm all for having more open-world space games. We don't have much info on this yet, but the original has a Metacritic average of 46. While that's not too great, the developers say they are looking at feedback and criticisms of the first game and will try to improve on those aspects.
