Not surprisingly, it seems that Blizzard Entertainment's StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is doing really well at retail. Okay, not just really well -- according to Blizzard, it's the "fastest-selling strategy game of all time."
Here's what that means: over the course of the first 48 hours, more than 1.5 million copies of StarCraft II were sold. The number is comprised of worldwide sales; the game saw release in North America, Europe, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, certain regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. So, yeah, a lot of people had the opportunity to buy StarCraft II last week.
The great news is that the success is well-deserved, with the game receiving critical acclaim almost across the board. We slapped the game with an "Editor's Choice" award, so if you're not one of the more than 1.5 million, you might want to consider picking up a copy -- it's that good.

I have a fair amount of experience but was never very good. But I'm a little into the campaign on the easiest difficulty (yeah yeah...) and I'm having a blast. I've always loved C&C, and I kinda get the impression this like a deeper, bigger, more intricate C&C style game.
Never played Starcraft, don't have a good enough PC, but do want to see what all the fuss is about.
I'm pretty sure you could play this is you had anything remotely recent.

And apparently, C&C and Starcraft are totally different games. According to their respective forums/fansites.
The game is good, don't get me wrong but you guys who are claiming that "THUMBS UP FOR BLIZZ + VALVE" and "It's great, and sells well because it's made for PC" etc need to think over a few things.
Also sales do not reflect anything accordingly to how much people liked it at the end of the credits roll.

Surely you have a good enough PC that you can play the -original- StarCraft and its expansion? :) Sure, the graphics don't look that great compared to modern stuff, but they still have their charm, and I think the story, soundtrack and gameplay hold up really well. :)
I just got SC2, but I'm considering speeding through StarCraft + BroodWar again before I play it, just to set the scene. :P
