StarCraft : Ghost available for pre-order ... say what?

5:51 PM on 05.12.2007, Joseph Leray 24 comments

Not what I had in mind

Form a line, folks. No pushing. Lo and behold, now you can pre-order StarCraft: Ghost from Best Buy and have it shipped to you on June 15. Or, for you masochistic types, you can snag it from Toys R Us and get it in August.

What gives? Maybe the fact that StarCraft: Ghost is Blizzard's vaporware extraordinaire and has been indefinitely postponed since March of last year. Furthermore, it's nowhere to be found on Blizzard's official list o' games.

So, is Blizzard just going to covertly release a sequel to (arguably) the most cherished RTS franchises ever created? Doubtful. More likely, some intern is going to be fired for this faux pas. On the other hand, this is one situation in which I would be more than happy to cram both feet into my mouth. I swear they would fit. Make it happen, Blizzard!

[Thanks Kennigit!]

You know the saddest part about this?
Toy's R Us notes that "Gift wrap is not available for this item."

Who the fuck do those people think they are kekekeke^^

Well it is quite hard to gift wrap things that have no tangible form. I wish it were true, but its release is about as likely as more than one atlus game being released in europe a year.

I played the Xbox version of this game and it surprisingly wasn't a huge pile of s**t. I'm not sure why anyone would care anymore, though, unless they can tie this in and hype it up along the inevitable OTHER Starcraft announcement.

I know nothing, so don't anyone go assuming I'm hinting at anything. Okay fine ... Starcraft Mobile Card Battler.

I'll believe it when I see it.

And knowing this game, I won't see it.

So I'll never believe it.

Wow, and I was just lamenting this game's cancellation last week with a friend. We both rewatched the footage and were really disappointed we'd never get to play a near-complete game. I shouldn't get my hopes up again, but I always like to pray for those seemingly-never-released games. (I'm rooting for you, Metroid Dread!)

Hrm.... I'm extremely skeptical about this. Seems like someone here would have heard about it's continued development.

Interesting. Particularly June date.

Several sites with 'reliable sources' have the new game pegged as a Starcraft MMO. But who cares. They arent the Dtoid.

Fuck all of this random leakage shit, Im just gonna wait for the OFFICIAL announcement in a few days before I think about Blizzard games again. Except for possibly playing SC in the meantime.

That new Starcraft game hasn't even been totally announced yet -- there's no way it'll be released this year. That game might actually be made, but this is shenanigans.

I work at Best Buy and I just checked our system -- the only skus I have for Starcraft: Ghost are "used" XBox, PS2 and Gamecube versions of this game. The instock date is 9/01/2005 and the outstock date is 9/01/2015. I'm calling BS on this. We don't even have a pre-order sku in the system -- the pre-order sku on bestbuy.com is not valid.

I want to make a witty pun about the name being starcraft: vapour and it being ghostware... But I won't.
