Starcraft fan Zerg rushes teenage girl with kitchen knife photo

I'm sure we've all been in a situation where the power has gone or the Internet's shut down right when we've been in the middle of a hot gaming session. What do you do in those situations? Throw the controller? Scream and rage? If you're one eighteen-year-old Starcraft fan, you grab a kitchen knife and stab the first 15-year-old girl who walks past your house. Sensible option.

A Swedish Starcraft gamer flew into a fit of rage when his Internet cut off while he was playing the RTS title, so he ran into the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and then started attacking the young girl as she passed by his house. He stabbed her multiple times, but fortunately has survived the attack.

The nutjob has been charged with attempted homicide and has been sent off for psychiatric treatment. The world breathes a sigh of relief that he was playing Starcraft and not Demon's Souls, as things could have been far worse.

Hahaha...aww...now I feel like an ass. :(

Glad the girl made it. I can't imagine how terrifying that must be to be a kid and have some random guy just run out if his house all pissed off and start stabbing you. Hot damn. That kid is a fuckin' asshole.

Was just talking about gamer rage with my flatmate the other day... he broke his keyboard after trying to crush a can with it, and we agreed keyboards should be stress tested by giving gamers great internet then cutting it suddenly. Cracked up when I read this... though very fortunate she lived.

Well even crazy people play RTS games sometimes. I'm surprised it took him 18 years to snap - he's the type of person who'd punch an old lady just because the bus was late.

Translation (by me, not perfect and probably not much better than Google Translate if at all):

"[b]The computer game malfunctioned
- then, the boy wanted to kill[/b]

The game-obsessed 18-year-old suddenly couldn't get his internet connection to work.
His dark thoughts around how it would be to murder [yes it says this, what the fuck] drove him to suddenly grab a kitchen knife and go out into the residential area late in the Saturday evening.

Seconds later he had attempted to murder an unknown passing 15-year-old girl.
The 18-year-old is now being judged for attempted murder and forensic psychiatric care[?] by the Nacka court.

The 18-year-old was not well and his thoughts were made even darker when the internet connection was cut and he was unable to continue the war game "Starcraft".

It was never planned that a 15-year-old girl on her way home from a party would be his victim. She just happened to be nearby laughing loudly together with a friend.

Despite several knife stabs the girl managed to avoid life-threatening damage. The deed was reported to the police the day after by the 18-year-olds father who found a bent knife with bloodstains in the house.

Prosecutor Jennie Söderberg had prosecuted for attempted murder. The court however chose to label the deed as attempted manslaughter based on his psychological condition and there being no earlier intent to kill the 15-year-old girl."

So yeah! Love the headline and the use of "war game" rather than "strategy game" for spice.

Curious why BBcode sometimes decides to not work for no apparent reason.

I can totally understand why he thought it was her fault.
I mean, she was walking by his house so clearly her magnetic field shut down his internet.
She deserved it!

Seriously though, poor girl.
That's messed up.

"She just happened to be nearby laughing loudly together with a friend."
Suddenly a very valid reason enters the story.

"The deed was reported to the police the day after by the 18-year-olds father who found a bent knife with bloodstains in the house."
He would've gotten away with it if it weren't for his meddling dad.

Then what the fuck was going on with the girl all that time? And why didn't the dickhole clean the blade? And what about the girl who was with the girl? WTF JOURNALISM!?!

Meh, no big waste for society. He was playing games, so through wasting time couldn't be very productive and didn't dispose of the murder weapon, so he wasn't even mildly intelligent.

Oh, wait, actually it will be a waste for society as it will have to give out money on his accommodation and food from now on.

Hmph, two ridiculous assault stories in two days. You know, he could have always just said it was Starcraft that made him stab someone like other nuts and the media blames games for their or other peoples apparent problems.

I wonder if he went "KEKEKEKEKE" as he did it.

That was awful, I know. I feel sorry for the girl, it must suck to go from having a great time at a party with a friend to getting stabbed by a maniac StarCraft player who lost his Internet for a bit.

For what person is the loss of internet mid game that big of a deal?

Most angry people wouldn't normally go father than yelling or damaging their mouse or keyboard in frustration.

Seriously, though, this is terrible. The man had problems, but everyone's going to blame gaming. Thanks.

@Xzyliac I expect the girl and her friend were up all night sitting in the hospital emergency rooms. Lots of mugging victims can barely identify the criminal due to the shock of the attack. I expect it was the same situation here and we're lucky the guy's father was willing to turn him in.
