Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

If yesterdays Starcraft 2 videos from CTZ were a little short for you pleasure, todays videos might give you the money shot that you are looking for. The Zerg are at it again but this time they are taking on the "Most powerful species in the galaxy, the Protoss" as well as some gameplay footage of the Zerg versus the Terrans.

In writing the last sentence I have come the realize that I do not know anything about Starcraft. I know it is a big game and a big deal, but I like showers and women. Hell, a few months ago, you could of told me it was a type of Korean food that they have contests eating and I may have believed you. I'm going to go back to Viva Pinata now.

More video sexiness after Das Jumpn!

Thanks to Rich Brown at Gametrailers for working hard through the night so that you could tingle on the insides.

As we sit down this morning, may we put our hands together and thank Rich Brown.

Also, I would eat dog. Just to know there is one less in the world.

The new units look SOOOOOO kick ass.

And the graphics are stupidly good. It's the animations that are just too damn smooth.

MAAAAASIVE slowdown at the end. I will not be able to run a Zerg rush on my clunker. Did I mention this is not my Turning Point gaming rig?

vexed alex: The rumors online state that the game will require 512MB of ram and a 128MB DirectX9 compatible video card, and I don't think the actual specs will be too much higher than that. You can get gobs of RAM and a decent midrange video card for less than the price of a Wii, so you'll be fine.

slowdown at the end... but this should run ok, following blizzard system of releasing games that look good (do not require top end pc´s), even on a mediocre video card.
It SHOULD, because graphics dont look like crysis, they look more accessible. Again, maybe the warcraft 3 syndrome will happen, unit count too many = problems.

I'm glad to see the developers watched a marathon of the Tremors movies before getting back to work on the Zerg.

Those Banelings look kickass, as do the Defiler-type things with the golden shower.

Since I like the first starcraft I will probably like this. Since this is the EXCACT same game but with a facepaint. Even the music is the same!

I guess you don't mess with a classic.

Now its time to sit back and wait for Blizzard to release their gameplay video....

Also both the Protoss and Terran player need some mad skills in that video... and those fucking exploding things look like a bitch.

I hate to say it, but this blog paints a very sad picture of the current state of video games. If more than half of the people leaving comments ether "never played Starcraft" or "aren't interested" something is seriously wrong. But then again back in '96 not many of the current "hardcore" (or casual for that matter) gamers knew what RTS meant.

Yeah, I am seriously amazed when I meet someone who hasn't played Starcraft. It should almost be considered part of the rite of passage to calling yourself a real gamer.

Velt, don't even bring up Warcraft 3 in any discussions of Starcraft 2! I want my 200 supply limit (or more!?) without upkeep and I don't want any mentions of WC3 to jinx that!

WC3 sucked ass, because all you could have was like, 36 units tops before you capped, and if two or more players attacked you, you were basically screwed.

Are the Zerg tremendously overpowered, or were those intentionally lopsided battles?

Big Z, I think he just meant with his computer when there were too many units he ran into problems. Not the game itself.

I can't wait for this game. And to those that say its the same, I wouldn't be so quick to say that. With the zerg alone you have a zergling mutation, burrowing ultras, new air unit that currupts enemies moreso than attacking them, moving burrowed units, infesting different buildings, a new ultra unit(the queen thing), Overlords are no longer detectors from the start, the worm transport thing(which Im still not totally sure how it works, but it looks almost like a nydus that can be placed anywhere), lurkers stick out now while burrowed, and Ive heard of some ability of the queen that can lay poisonous creep. Ive also heard that varied regeneration will be a gameplay factor. And thats just one race. Combine that with the new and old units of the other races and it seems to me to have a good chance of being at least a somewhat new experience.
therob92's Avatar
therob92 at 03/11/2008 14:05
Sharpless, they are intentionally lopsided. Each of the videos for each race shows how a unit works by putting it in the best situation for it to thrive.

One thing Starcraft did well was balance. Those demos showed fucktard Protoss/Terran players designed to get mollywhomped.

Also don't reference your heatenistic WC3 bullshit, that game sucked and wasnt an RTS, its a freaking RPG with more units than your standard 5 man party. I want a 200 unit cap at the minimum...

can't wait for this, and whats with the shit talking WC3. that game was fucking awesome in a different way. instead of a shitload of units it had more abilities to micro . . . "WC3 wasn't an RTS" go get your head checked. that game was fucking great
Zersturer's Avatar
Zersturer at 03/11/2008 22:38
I think you're missing the point buddy. It really wasn't much of an RTS game because at most you had 20 dudes. There was no strategy, just tactics and micromanagement.

idk, imo micro and tactics are strategy. you just do it with 50 man armies instead of 200
