Starcraft 2 trilogy announced, Starcraft fans change pants simultaneously photo

Today at BlizzCon, Blizzard dropped the proverbial bombshell. The highly anticipated RTS Starcraft 2 will be split into three distinct stand-alone titles, each featuring a different race in order to keep the “epic” scale of Starcraft 2’s storyline intact. It’s a trilogy, except the middle to this one won’t suck as bad as The Matrix: Reloaded did.

The first title to hit stands is called Terran: Wings of Liberty. Following that will be Zerg: Heart of Swarm, and Protoss: Legend of the Void. Details on pricing, dates, and inclusion of multiplayer are unknown at this time. What is known is that each title will feature 26-30 single-player missions without a cliffhanger in sight.

If handled appropriately, I can see how this might be pretty hip. I only hope that all three of these titles don’t hit within months of each other. We'll keep our ears to the ground for more information as BlizzCon unfolds. In the meanwhile, are you happy with this announcement Starcraft fans?

@ King

Also, Fail.

If they charge $20 per game (I doubt they will, probably 30.) we still pay more. Who wants to install and switch out three games anyway. I was considering Starcraft but not anymore.

wow seriously WTF!?!

This is really a BAD F????ing move by Blizzard... if they do this I wont bother buying it no matter how badass a SINGLE race is. This is total BS, I want to play all races story on the first buy.

They KNOW we will finish each single race story mode in less than a week, so in 3 weeks all 3 story modes will be done. This is total BS.

omg CUT the BULL$#!%!!! This ain't THREE totally different separate games. This is ONE game that was supposed to be dope but has since totally drowned in it's own hype and way-too-premature announcement. ONE game that I'd have to buy THREE times to play all the way through? I'm over it. Screw blizzard.

Sorry guys, but if I could buy a new Blizzard RTS every year -- even just a 30-mission single player campaign -- I'd totally do it.

Fucking QQ everywhere. Anything considerably epic is worth my money.

Sorry for the Wall of Text.

I am a former WoW player. I don't know if you guys have played WoW a lot and had a chance to see the way the Bliz does thing but I can give you a few, things that you can expect. First the days of Bliz not putting out things until they are done are dead. The quality of their material has decreases since they released Vanilla WoW. That wasn't finished when they released it, and they are still having balancing issues to this day. So expect patches as they see what is happening in multi-player. It won't ever be right and they will constantly be trying to fix it for the life of the game. Second if they release something like this with expansions, they are going to make you buy all three by giving you new stuff in multi-player with each x-pac. So if you want to be competitive you will have to buy all three. Third of course it's about money, they are after all in the business to make money. I know I for one would have a lot more respect for Bliz as a whole if they would just be honest about that and top saying stuff like they are building games that they love to play and all the other rhetoric that they spew constantly.
