Star Wars: The Old Republic spreading to more regions photo

BioWare is officially bringing Star Wars: The Old Republic outside of North America and Europe next month. On March 1, 2012, the game will launch in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

If you live in one of these regions and signed up your SWTOR account before February 28, they're going to let you request a free character transfer to an Asia Pacific server following the rollout in March. You'll be notified around that time if you qualify.

Leading up to this release, local participating retailers in New Zealand and Australia have a pre-order bonus for the Standard Edition of the game: an in-game color crystal that allows you to change your weapon effect. BioWare also noted that all regions are going to be eligible for a Founder's medal.

About damn time too. The import version here in Singapore was around $100 dollars.

for some reason, I read the title as "...spreading to more religions"...

But why? They can't even make the game work in an entertaining way in the regions they have it in right now!

A bit too late. Any Australian that was serious about Swtor had already imported it from Amazon and are playing on The Swiftsure or The Harbinger. It's even more ludicrous due to the major game retailers having import copies on shelves for sale for over the past month.

So in the Australian market BioWare's The Old Republic (March 1) will be competing with BioWare's Mass Effect 3 (March 8).

Great idea guys.

@Logic

Two different games, 2 different Universes, 2 Different genre (yes, they're different), and for the most part 2 different consoles/platforms.

They won't overlap much, specially since many people won't be all that impressed wth the The Old Republic being an MMO, while the people who have played the rest of the Mass Effects will probably already be waiting on that game.

What Australian players who preorder should get niffed about is the fact that those preorder crystals suck.
