Star Wars: The Old Republic set to hit in 2011 photo

As we assumed, EA CEO Jon Riccitiello was talking about Star Wars: The Old Republic during the recent fiscal conference call in which he mentioned a “major” MMO, as well as a key driver for digital sales, was slated to be released in Spring 2011.

Confirmation comes from Bioware’s Sean Dahlberg via the official Old Republic message board. Dahlberg said that the team couldn’t give out a specific date, but they are indeed targeting a Spring 2011 release.

In addition to this, Dahlberg promised “exciting updates and reveals” through 2010 as well as teased the opportunity to become a tester for the game in 2010. People with a pulse (or interested in signing up for a beta) can do so via the official Web site. Neat, right?

Only MMO I've ever given the time of day is EVE. This might be the first I actually play beyond the free trial.

I was hoping for Christmas 2010, but this is fine of course. More time to play the Star Trek MMO, which I am finding surprisingly good at the moment.
