Star Wars Jedi Knight series now up on Steam photo

Who likes the Star Wars Jedi Knight games? A lot of people, apparently. I'd be willing to bet if you started up Jedi Academy right this second, you'd be able to find a match online. Then again, the same could be said of quite a few Star Wars titles that have an ongoing following so many years after launch.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Steam has added the Jedi Knight series to its massive collection of downloadable games. The games are pretty affordable individually, but you can also get them all for $19.99 and save yourself a few bucks as always.

In other Steam/LucasArts-related news, there's a great promotion happening now. For $9.99, you can be the proud owner of LOOM, The Dig, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, and The Last Crusade. Uh, can I get a "hell yeah"?

Hot damn. Even as someone that's been gaming since the early 80's, I still can honestly say Mysteries of the Sith's screenshots look like complete ass. It's actually kind of funny to me.

But, Yeah... jedi knights game, awesome. Who wouldn't want to play them again? Good stuff.

I guess I should have said Dark Forces II, since Mysteries of the sith is the expansion pack. oops.

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis is my most favoritest game of all time. I spent YEARS on that game, and loved every minute of it except for 2 of the puzzles.

Beware mate, the games ain't been optimised or anything so there are problems on Vista of course. Lucasarts posted a few links on Twitter to the forums, cant remember which games are the worst but the fact they say quick save ALL the time - a la KOTOR on Vista - says it all.

Also Dtoid you are a day late with this news they were released yeaterday.

I played every single game/expansion from the release date, including Dark Forces. Who plays them? Every old gamer with a decent PC!

Why do many people like them? Because they are fucking great games, still. Jedi Academy, combat and force-power wise, kicks the crap out of recent attempts like Force Unleashed (you can take peoples limbs off!), AND you could play it multiplayer, which is a blast even with bots.

Still hoping for another Jedi Knight, or a spiritual successor. Perhaps some decent sales here will help.

I had a marathon run on Jedi Knight last year. JK looks awful nowadays, but the gameplay puts other FPS games to shame. I absolutely adore the level designs in that one. JKII is still near perfect though. Once you get that lightsaber and start turning on the slo-mo...jaw-dropping stuff.

The original Jedi Knight/Mysteries of the Sith is still the absolute best FPS I've ever played on the PC, period.

Been playing Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight most of the night. It actually tore me away from Batman, which is insane given one is new and one is 12 years old.

Jedi Knight just plays so perfectly, even today. Can't wait to play JK2 as well.

Jedi Academy was only ok...

Despite being around since at least the last ice age, I have only played Jedi Outcast (that's true; no Dark Forces or even Jedi Academy) so this 19€ bundle was a must-have. Since I'm still a huge fan of Doom, the original DF looks like it could definitely steal me away from my next-gen consoles for quite some time.

Also, I can't resist supporting evil old Lucasarts financially to make sure they release Day of the Tentactle and Full Throttle on Steam as well..

Always loved Jk2, Been involved with an online jk2 community for years now, and even though I play a ton of other games... I will always go back online with jk2 and get some good duels in with my clan mates... who seem to be dragged back to that game as much as I am hehe

Boner.

Gonna pick up Dark Forces 1+2. Back in the days, I only played the demos I got from some magazine. Loved 'em. Never played the full games though. Maybe because you had to be 18 to buy them here, and ol' daddy was not too fond of "violent games".

I haven't played them in so long! I remember getting all of them in a bundle a while after they came out, I know I still have them around somewhere.

Unfortunately, unlike Doom and others, Dark Forces has no mod/conversion to make it more modern looking, so you will be playing it old-school style if you choose to do so. It works, but man... things like GZDoom have spoiled me.

Luckily the later games all support high resolutions and look wonderful.

I never liked the "modernizations" of Doom. Using them, it retains the (compared to later games) blandness of the leveldesign and graphics, while losing its oldschool/retro/whateveryoumaycallit charme. I stick with the original graphics.

I totally get that, really. I usually never use graphics mods other than widescreen hacks because I prefer the classic style and developer intended look. I guess I just view old FPS games like Doom differently because the 2D->Fake 3D effect makes me a bit ill, if you get me. The modded versions like GZDoom are actual 3D.

Oh WOW. $10 for ALL those amazing games? That's a must buy right there.
I still have my original Dark Forces, DF: 2, Jedi Outcast, and Jedi Academy discs. They don't work in Windows 7, but they are nice to have...I guess. Jedi Outcast was one of my favorite games ever back in the day.

A wonderful collection of games from when the star wars games were still top notch. They are all kinda blah nowadays.

except Battlefront. Battlefront was [i]tight{/i]

@StingingVelvet: Well, I play low-res games all the time so that's not an issue for me (also, not having one of those awful, retro-hating widescreen monitor obviously helps a lot). Doom source ports are convenient for control configuration and the like but nowadays that can be accomplished relatively easily through DOSBox.

However, it would have been nice if they had at least provided some kind of compatilibity upgrade for Jedi Knight 1. All the other games in the bundle works fine but JK1 can be a complete mess, especially in 3D accelerated mode...

@Arianol: No way. Maybe story-wise, but not gameplay and customization-wise. I used to have so much fun playing with mods for Jedi Academy back in the day.

I don't know what happened to all my old discs, so this is great!
I'm totally buying this.

Good deal. I have all my Dark Forces/Jed Knight discs so I just may fire them back up to make sure they work still...and to play through them all again.
