Despite Star Wars: The Old Republic’s recent unveiling, LucasArts has pledged to continue to support the original Star Wars MMO, Star Wars Galaxies. In a recent interview with Eurogamer, LucasArts executive Tom Nichols confirmed new content and a desire to have Galaxies compete with SW: TOR whenever it is released.
From the interview:
We have many other features planned to support Star Wars Galaxies. We see no reason why the two games can't exist together.
Nichols then went on to say that some of the problems in Galaxies wouldn’t be repeated in
SW: TOR. He also talked about the value inherent in listening to community response as well as what consumers really want out of a
Star Wars game, which just so happens to involve
becoming a hero quickly and effectively.

Yes, I'm sure Mr. Lucas is fine with money coming in from two games instead of one. Now that the movies are done he's gotta milk this IP for all it's worth.
