Star Wars Galaxies will continue to be supported, despite SW: TOR photo

Despite Star Wars: The Old Republic’s recent unveiling, LucasArts has pledged to continue to support the original Star Wars MMO, Star Wars Galaxies. In a recent interview with Eurogamer, LucasArts executive Tom Nichols confirmed new content and a desire to have Galaxies compete with SW: TOR whenever it is released.

From the interview:

We have many other features planned to support Star Wars Galaxies. We see no reason why the two games can't exist together.
Nichols then went on to say that some of the problems in Galaxies wouldn’t be repeated in SW: TOR. He also talked about the value inherent in listening to community response as well as what consumers really want out of a Star Wars game, which just so happens to involve becoming a hero quickly and effectively.

how about this for a reason:

NO PLAYERS IN YOUR GAME TO SUPPORT YOU.

You know, I'd appreciate a true Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy Sequel for the PC then any other Star Wars game.

MAKE IT HAPPEN.

I predict SWG getting dropped 2 months after the release of SW:TOR.

They're just trying to quell the fears of the 18 people still playing Galaxies.

Fuck Star Wars galaxies. The ruined that game with the new combat system, and with the whole simplification of the class system. Holocrons ftw!

Is it wrong that I don't want to be a hero, in an MMO? Can't I just play a normal guy, making his way in the galaxy? Or does that reveal my deep-rooted lack of ambition too much?

Bull fucking shit. If this game proves to be more popular than SWG and rolls in the dough, they are so gonna drop the axe on SWG.

2 games existing together in perfect harmony... what a beautiful thought.

SWG is a perfect case study in how to not update an MMO

My heart bleeds every time I hear about my once favorite MMO. So much was right, but so much more was wrong, oh so wrong.

Sharpless, that's one of the things that, although carried out to questionable levels of effectiveness, I miss from the earliest MMOs like Ultima Online, that feeling that you literally could be the guy that does nothing but sit around and do what thing he wants.

Only *some* of the problems? Take your pick, SOE: There's a lot.

Yes, I'm sure Mr. Lucas is fine with money coming in from two games instead of one. Now that the movies are done he's gotta milk this IP for all it's worth.
