Star Wars custom Wii is for the rich nerd who needs to squander money photo

I've seen some cool custom Wiis out there, and I've shared quite a few with you here on the pages of Dtoid. I have to admit this Star Wars one is pretty smokin, but when you get to the price, all those feelings just kind of stop in their tracks. At $499.99 (and its listed on Ebay, so that's a starting bid), it just seems like a hell of a mark up, despite the work that obviously went into it.

On the other hand, it seems the average custom console has quite a pricetag -- the Yoshi Wii I linked above retailed for close to the same price. Gamers want cool stuff, but most gamers don't have that kind of cash handy (especially not after all the cool games this season!). Then again, I don't live and breathe the Force -- if that's your thing, would you throw down that cool 500 to get this one-of-a-kind mod?

Come December 24, I wouldn't be surprised to see some people paying this much for a plain old white Wii.

Have also seen some amazing custom wii's, favorite is the Zelda on with the sword and shield (ya, look it up). My thing is that perhaps people would be customizing less of them if they actually spent some time PLAYING them. Just a thought.

Nope.. still not buying into the Wii. Nintendo you've raped my anal hole soooo badly that not even slapping on the Star Wars logo on it will make me love you again.

maybe the auction is so high because the seller knows the moment it ends, a squad of stormtroopers will burst through his wall, followed by george lucas, who will personally collect 98% of the selling price. lucas is flanked by 2 royal guards, who are in actuality, lawyers.

and r3yguti3rr3z: right on. because NINTENDO totally made this.

i know my paints and that has the texture of spray-paint, it's not car paint or brushed on, it's been sprayed on. $499 is too much for it or any wii unless it's jewel encrusted.

$499 is chunk change. I spend more than that on hard drives.

It might not be worth $500, but it's still pretty damned cool.
