SSFIV update: New character to be revealed next week? photo

This week's update comes courtesy of Nakky's blog over at the official Super Street Fighter IV website, and teases some big news on the way. Nakky has a screencap of Chun-Li being treated unkindly by someone of unknown identity, and she says there'll be "something huge" announced next week.

Nakky teases, "Chun-Li's getting beat up... but, by who?" Seems pretty safe to assume the big news will be a character reveal, and Nakky says the info will also be published in the 11/26 issue of Famitsu, which goes on sale shortly. This pleases me, because as we all know, Famitsu tends to be ... how shall I put it ... less than watertight with its secrets.

We'll probably know for sure before we're supposed to, but until then, feel free to point at the new stage pictured above and speculate as to whose it might be. In the meantime, Dan Hibiki, El Fuerte and Rufus have been added to the official character profiles page as well.

Looks exactly like Cammy's FA brush stroke. Doesn't mean one thing or another, but still.

My guess: That's an oil refinery stage, and Hakan will be the character reveal.

I'm split between Guy (kick and city background) or Adon for his Jaguar kick..or even Rolento since it is a construction area

@TOPER: They did say HUGE announcement, so, could be more likely that they're either revealing a brand new character or more than one at once like they did when they revealed super.

@fadecy: I think it's Hakan for sure. It's probably in Capcom's best interest to wait as long as possible before revealing any returning classic characters, that way hype stays high and people keep the ball rolling with rumors and speculation while they can hold out hope for their favorites. Those little dudes in the background are wearing uniforms similar to Rolento's, but that's too easy. My guess is the new character, Hakan.

I'm saying either that's an Oil Refinery, and Hakan is the character (Surprise!), or that's a Construction site, and it's Alex from SF3; notice the Skyscraper in the background.

I mean the attack pattern of the Focus Attack seems really hard for a grappler to do(which is what Hakan would be if he's real).

Consider most other grapplers in SF4. Zangief's and Abel's FA always have the brush stroke on their body.

Case in point, I think it's Rolento. Fucking A', it better be. :D

Also they would have it blocked off it was a character in SFIV like Cammy or something.

Wouldn't have it blocked off actually. Actually, the FA looks like Guy or Cody(hell even Adon), I imagine Rolento's would be sort of like how Ryu's is but with his cane instead of a fist.

Those looks more like construction cranes with a little too nice of a view for an oil refinery. My vote is for Rolento / construction zone. But I would rather see Guy or Cody.

I'd like it to be Rolento, but the rumors didn't say he'd be there... so, I'd say it's going to be Adon. The brush strokes look like it could be from his downward flying kick move.

There's also nothing saying that stage HAS to be related to anybody. Like th volcano stage in SFIV. Maybe it's a generic new stage, hmmmm? There could be anybody standing there.

The increased level of detail on the backgrounds is making me really happy here, I think that's the main thing in common with 3S. They look really alive!

Yeah, that's gotta be Metro City. The big statue in the back is totally Mayor Haggar holding up his Saturday Night Slam Masters championship belt.
But the idea that this is an Oil Refinery seems a bit far fetched, particularly in that it's way way too close to the city to be safe, and you know Mayor Haggar wants to keep his people safe.

And the relation between an oil refinery and Hakan at all seems odd too because Oil Wrestlers use Vegetable oil, not crude oil -_-

I'm not particularly fond of any of the FF characters, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that I think this is gonna be either Guy or Cody.

Also, trying to compare that focus slash at this point seems pointless because I'm pretty sure every character in the game got a "completely new move" in their focus attack.

Zangief stole Hugos clothesline, Sakura never had a knee move like her focus attack, Guile stole Alex's qcf+p slash attack and made it into his focus attack, Honda's, Cammy's, Ryu's, etc. They're all new moves entirely, as opposed to modified versions of moves that they already have.

@freetouch I know they can't use him or any of the ex chars, I just posted it to be an ass. Moreso, I don't really like the idea of a Turkish grappler because I feel he's just gonna be a copy of Darun, in the way he looks. I mean, the dude has to be like half naked and super buff, so how else would he look?
