SSB Brawl or Bore?

5:46 PM on 06.05.2006

Brawl Bore I've heard in the past that the SSB Brawl team was slopped together and is being rushed, but this news is what worries me: "the game's being designed to stress 'easiness' over the small details of combat, in an attempt to make the entry level for playing the fighter even lower than before." Don't get me wrong - complex combo moves seen in games like Tekken is NOT what I'd ever want from this game - but taking a step back from SSB Melee's simplicity doesn't sound great either. I mean come on - Pick A or B plus a direction and that's almost the entire gameplay! How much simpler could they make it for the Nintendo newcomers? The news also briefly mentions future characters, but nothing revealing or set in stone. Something to get excited over though is the Wii's new rumors, mentioning the power of the wiimote's camera and many other possibilities for the console. Wiik or Swiit?

Costume Quest 2 is still cute, trying to be more engaging

Costume Quest, like every Double Fine game, is charming. It's a fresh-feeling, low stakes take on the JRPG genre, more Earthbound than Final Fantasy. Though, as Chad put it in his review, it's "RPG Lite," accessible...more

I took a field trip to play Civilization: Beyond Earth's first 100 turns

Civilization: Beyond Earth isn't just a missed opportunity for transmedia synergy by way of the family Smith's After Earth. It's a game about space. About space colonization, specifically, because the Earth is a goner (w...more
