Squeee! ...nix: SQ EX announces E3 line-up and some release dates photo
     E3

Square Enix is busy gathering up their best stuff to show off next week at E3, and a press release they've sent out details all that will be shown and playable at the event. Well, probably not all. They're sneaky like that. Oh, and there's some new release dates, too.

Playable:

  • Chrono Trigger (DS)
  • Dragon Quest: Chapters of the Chosen (DS)
  • Final Fantasy IV (DS)
  • Infinite Undiscovery (Xbox 360)
  • Song Summoner: The Unsung Heroes (iPod)

Non-playable:

  • Star Ocean: First Departure (PSP)
  • Star Ocean: Second Evolution (PSP)
  • Star Ocean: The Last Hope (Xbox 360)
  • The Last Remnant (360 and PS3)
  • Taito's EXIT
  • Taito's The Legend of Kage 2

Release dates:

  • Song Summoner: Now
  • Chrono Trigger: Holiday 2008
  • Dragon Quest: Chapters of the Chosen: Sept. 16th
  • Final Fantasy IV: July 22nd
  • Star Ocean: First Departure: Oct. 21st
  • Star Ocean: Second Evolution: Jan 6, 2009
  • Infinite Undiscovery: Sept. 2nd
  • Star Ocean: The Last Hope: 2009
  • The Last Remnant: This winter
  • EXIT and The Legend of Kage 2: October 7th
Yes! We finally have confirmed US release dates for the PSP Star Ocean titles we've been lusting over since last year's Tokyo Game Show.

We will have more on these titles for you next week from E3!

I'm a little disappointed. Nothing about FFXIII, and nothing about project Rapture (Squenix's upcoming MMO-- a sequel to Final Fantasy 11).

Atlus is my new master.

Seriously, this just pisses me off. I was expecting for FFXIII to at least come out while I was still in Highschool.

This blows floppy donkey dick.

Wow, I can't wait to play through Legend of Kage 2 again and actually be able to understand the story (it owns by the way, even if you don't speak Japanese). It'll be nice to give my import copy a rest.

But, why oh why can't the Game with No Name be coming stateside? I don't dare import that since I know that it will be text heavy times seventeen!

Must be time to learn Japanese.

No FFXIII/KH3/Dissidia? Pass.

Good thing Disgaea 3 hits at the end of August. That'll last me until FFXIV. Or Disgaea 4.

Its about time they announced the First Departure and Second Evolution release dates. Infinite Undiscovery, WotLK, and Star Ocean: First Departure.

This fall is gonna be a good one. :3

OH shit! I was starting to lose hope about SO: First Departure, SO2 as well, but I've already played that. This makes me so happy.
Wish I could play my 60+ hour RPG on a console though...

I disagree. The lack of FFXIII is a bonus. We've seen enough videos of it to entice us. We all know its gonna be more of the same, plus shiny bells and whistles. Its absence also allows their other games to shine.

Chrono Trigger highly deserves a spotlight. I know once I have it on DS, I'll be grinding to get all those great thirteen endings (something we never see in Square games any more.

Good to see 360 getting some love, long overdue.

Good list Square, but where's Front Mission 2089?

you should put Dragon Quest IV...i was pretty confused about what "Dragon Quest: Chapters of the Chosen (DS)" meant.

anyway, nice lineup but no FFXIII makes me angry.

I had no idea Last Remnant was coming out on 360, so I'm pretty excited.

Want KH3 though. pleeeeeeeeeeeeease KH2 was one of the first RPGs in years that I dedicated serious time to (well that and Persona 3)

Why would they release SO4 only on the 360. 360 does horrible in japan, way to shoot themselves in the foot. At least make it multi-platform.

I'm pretty sure Star Ocean 4 is coming to PS3 sometime later... it's a limited exclusive as of now. Kinda like GTA: San Andreas was.

Yay! EXIT is coming back even if it's the DS version and not the sequel for the PSP! Still yay! (I guess Ubisoft didn't want to publish it themselves?)

Now it's about time Star Ocean got officially localized. It's been twelve years.

Legend of Kage 2, I'm excited! Very unexpected. The first was rough around the edges but had its own charm. Can't wait to see what they'll do with a new one.

Part of the first one's charm is the fact that SPOILER: after you rescue the princess, she gets kidnapped again about 5 seconds later.
