Square Enix developer Hiroshi Takai is a total Xbox 360 fanboy, heaping praise upon Microsoft's indestructible console and expressing a desire to continue working with it. His team recently released The Last Remnant, and he was speaking on his experiences working on the 360 exclusive.
"It's been the team's first time working with Xbox 360 and the Unreal Engine," he told Official Xbox Magazine. "In both cases the experience has been a positive one. In fact, as we've only just finished work on Last Remnant I don't even know what my next project is going to be at Square Enix. However, I'm very much hoping it'll be for Xbox 360 as it's been a lot easier to work with than PlayStation 3."
This just proves that Square Enix are EVIL TRAITORS if you ask me. So evil they are. With all that treachery.
Jim Sterling serves as reviews editor for Destructoid.com, head of the Podtoid podcast, and produces a number of news stories, original features, one-of-a-kind videos. Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Cant wait :¬)

How's about that wonderful Front Mission Online on 360, Sqaure?
Actually Sonys response will probably be relief that they didnt pay for a subpar exclusive and a buggy, lazy, timed exclusive. At least that's what my response would be if it was me...
When will they realize that the 360 doesn't have a real JRPG fanbase? Barely anyone owns it in Japan, and the people who do own it in America obviously don't like JRPGs all that much. Note that the system's best sellers are shooters.....
Can't wait to see FF13 for 360 on the bargain shelf within 2 months while the PS3 version still goes for 60 bucks....So I can buy it for cheap!

Surely all the low-level code is done for them, and all that's required is a change to the logic and UI?? Of course you need to add your own assets (sound, textures, models), but the engine should have to worry about the hardware. Maybe Epic aren't being as helpful as they could be. Though they did a bag-up job on UT3, Mods and all.
Sounds like a cop-out. And I don't want to troll, but their last few games have been lacking a certain magic.
Perhaps they're having trouble evolving from the traditional JRPG format. Small areas, random encounters, generic story lines, mixed with CD quality sound and great FMVs... but we've come a long way since FFVII.
like everyone else said. Infinite Undiscovery and last remnant were crap. with IU it was just shitty story, lame characters, bad dialogue. But LR? Shittier story, Lamer characters, worse dialogue, unfinished animation, and glaring technical issues. Xbox fanboy? fine. I hope he keeps making unfinished products for an what's pretty much an unfinished products (360). Atleast the stuff that worth playing from square is still coming out for other consoles.
His next project should be for PS2, then maybe we can get some quality RPGs. Their next-gen outing has left much to be desired!
"Oh FFXIII always looked like crap anyway, I'm only interested in Versus"
Wow, sad people, really sad
Quick example:
Many of my friends don't move past Medium on GH/RB because it's 'easier'
THIS IS A LAME BULLSHIT SISSY EXCUSE. Expert is way more fun and entertaining to watch as well as play because it's way HARDER! Then you can even take that to the next level with an ACTUAL GUITAR!
Easy my ass, do something AWESOME! I don't care how fucking hard it is.
You don't use Paint to make a digital painting, you use Photoshop.
That is when easier=better.
You completely missed the point I was trying to make. I was addressing something altogether different.
No, you didn't. I wasn't addressing the quality of the games, or even anyone's argument in the comments. I didn't read the comments before posting. I was simply referring to Sony fanboys who, on countless previous posts, always scoffed at developers talking about how difficult the PS3 is to design for. I was simply saying, "Hey, here's yet another one. Do you maybe believe NOW that it's true?"
The quality of their game isn't relevant. The argument is the volume of the claims, not the quality of the games attached to them. Whether a game turns out well or doesn't, shouldn't have much bearing on how difficult it is to develop for. The results change, the claims stay the same.
"You don't use Paint to make a digital painting, you use Photoshop. That is when easier=better."
I think you got that backward. Paint is easier to use, Photoshop is orders of magnitude more complex.
I'm not sure where this "360 is more like a PC" argument has come from. The 2 main differences between 360 and PS3 are the split in Ram (360 has 512mb of main ram, PS3 has 256 of main, 256 of graphics ram); PS3 core is multi core.
Multi-threading and dividing assets (between HD, ram, gram) for faster access times is a staple of PC Games development. 360 is easier because it's simpler: just store everything in main ram when you need it, no need to multithread or worry about memory allocation.
It's no coincidence that we've heard the majority of complaints of the PS3s complexity from Console-centred developers.
