Oh my god...oh..ow...my side...I don't own a 360 or a PS3, but I eagerly await the stuff that will probably happen soon.
But seriously they're not allowed to do this, but Microshaft can slap a big Xbox logo and "available on Xbox 360" on the end of almost EVERY FUCKING MULTIPLAT advert over here?
It clearly misleads the uninformed, but is fair play because of the wording???
The ASA is picky about what they pull up it seems.
The few UbiSoft ads I've seen for muli-platform games usually have the "Available for PS3" at the end, only showing the Sony box arts and the PS3.
I guess it's just the highest bidder on these ads.
Here in the UK, (admittedly i watch very little TV) I see either "Available on Xbox360" with big green and white logo after the advert or, RARELY I see the stack of multiplat cases at the end, or the Xbox and PS3 cases next to each other.
Unless of course it's a PS3 exclusive.
Hell MS are real big fans of putting out "ONLY on Xbox 360" ads while their TIMED exclusivity is in place.
Timed Exclusive is something I really have a problem with.
There's no problem with that, they aren't lying.
The game is available on 360, It doesn't say only 360. It's to try and get you to buy the 360 one.
Kind of like the Assassin's Creed Brotherhood adverts that say on PS3, they don't say only on PS3.
The problem is they said the Footage was 360 when it was PS3. That's lying and false advertisement. 2 different things.
I like FFXIII, but you're right about FFXII being brilliant/perfect. It's probably my third fav FF after VI and IV. I've been trying to find time for another playthrough, it's a shame that I've only been through it once
UK and I think it is only UbiSoft that have an arrangement with Sony so far, but as Malik mentioned, Assassins Creed 1 & 2 had them quite a lot when they were released.
Also false advertising, and a bit of a dick move.
Cool, I haven't personally seen any ads for Assasin's creed, so that may be where my opinion is skewed. i have seen LOADS of adverts that end with the Xbox logo though, mostly for multiplat games.
i think it's wrong no matter which company does it. From what i've personally seen MS does it a LOT more than sony, and certainly was doing it a long time before Sony was - I'm not surprised they started doing it after watching MS do it for so long!
But my opinion on the whole "Available on..." thing still stands, for both companies. It's wrong, it's misleading, may not be lying, but is certainly misleading. I think Gaming advertising needs to be looked at and rules to be set, it wouldn't be hard to ensure that any game shown in an advert had a line of text across the bottom outlining which platforms it was available on or even "Available on multiple platforms" just in text at the bottom of the advert, just like the "not actual gameplay" disclaimer.
It creates situations where uninformed kids in playgrounds and uninformed parents can make console purchases/requests based on what "looks like" an exclusive game due to a misleading advert.
while not technically "lying" it's intentionally misleading and that's wrong.
In all seriousness, I could care less. I own a 360, but don't hate my PS3 brethren. We're all gamers.
But you totally know those comments are coming...
Square Enix are stupid for doing this. The 360 version doesn't look much worse. You probably can't tell the different, if you're watching the ad on a SD channel.
I remember EA got screwed over, after they put 360/PS3 footage in the Tiger Woods Wii ad.
"HHahah that's right 360 can go suck his own dick an it looks like they are suckingPS3 as well."
Who is sucking who?
@ Zombie killer - Speak the words of wisdom!
Honestly, what I'm upset about, is them wasting there time with this. How can an organization determine the difference in sharpness and color and that it is significant enough to warrant this "ruling" waste of time and money if you ask me...
(Like I said, I haven't seen the ads, so if it is EXPLICIT that the game in the commercial is being advertised as the 360 version, I take that all back.)
Semi-related, how does the law work for something like the new Resistance 3 ad or any of the Halo live action shorts? (The ones that mix enemies from the game with real actors in live-action scenes.) Unless the ad explicitly states "not actual gameplay" (which the Resistance one doesn't, not sure about the Halo ones), wouldn't that be considered misleading as well?

Kirby's Epic Yarn > Everthing ever
But as an informed gamer I know if its multiplat and therefore dont give two tugs of a dead dogs cock which system is advertised at the end :-)
@Rhuno: MS forgot they're dealing with geeks here... as they say, THE TRUTH WILL OUT.
