Damn I assumed that was promo-art for a new SE game which would of been pretty cool looking. But uhh this is also good.
Not so surprising, since the second Nier OST - 15 Nightmares & Arrange Tracks had a verrry nice chiptune medley on it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IttCA98s9Us *.

On the one hand, one could buy 2 PS1 Square-Enix RPGs on the PSN or Wiiware (or even more recent ones like Final Fantasy XIII or Nier in stores right now) for that kind of dosh.
On the other hand, there are much worse videogame related things to spend roughly $24 bucks or more on (such as novelization of Mortal Kombat or body pillows).
It looks as if folks are coming around to the realization that soundtracks played by a full orchestra using analog instruments aren't always superior to those issued forth from digital instruments.
The future of music is back again. Now for those jet-packs and robots...

Wait, they're taking higher quality music and taking it down a level or two? And this is good? What's next, Avatar the black and white silent film version? I guess I just don't get the chiptune scene.

@Novatide That made me laugh XD It's true though. I wasn't around to get into those older, universally acclaimed Squaresoft/Square Enix games but what I do remember is that most of their games both new and old have pretty awesome soundtracks, even if most of their games aren't anymore.
@jargy1 Not to sound like a self-righteous hipster or anything but even though, like I said, I wasn't around to experience firsthand the awesome soundtracks of the older Final Fantasy and Zelda games and such, I still find the classic arrangements or piano arrangements more entertaining than full orchestral arrangements. Same with chiptunes. I don't know, there's something about them that's just more fun that way.

Oh my God, they're adding in Brave Fencer Musashi music, one of my favourite games of all time. I'm totally getting this.
