Square-Enix's Crystal Defenders soon on Japanese iPhones

Square-Enix's Crystal Defenders soon on Japanese iPhones photo

As if I didn't want an iPhone already, now I'm noticing that some of the games out for it are starting to look good. Like, really good. Of course, Square-Enix's involvement in a project is always the straw that breaks the camel's back for me when it comes to wanting to get in on the action, and now they have announced Crystal Defenders, their first title for the iPhone, is coming out this winter. Gah! Must ... get... iPhone!

The title is a map-based "defense simulation" (in other words, you run around and fight stuff) and makes use of the iPhone's touch screen capability. It's likely it is a Japanese-only release, considering that it was posted on Famitsu, but you never know. Check out some screens in the gallery -- would you play this if it came to the US?

Hmm, it's not called Final Fantasy, but the logo is unmistakably part of that series...

Yes. I'm currently obsessed with tower defense games on my Iphone, and if that's what it is, it is win. Iphone needs more RPG's though, Vay is fun but gets lame. Why so many Iphone haters? It's amazing.
