It's been quite awhile since we've heard anything about Square Enix's MMORPG Concerto Gate. We told you last fall that the PC title is actually coming to the US by way of OnNet USA, but we haven't heard much more past that.
Today the "debut" trailer for Concerto Gate surfaces, courtesy of GameVideos. Sure, it's mostly anime cutscenes, but it's better than nothing, and I think we're getting a taste of the rumored Kenji Ito/Hiroki Kikuta soundtrack in it. Of course, if you hate PC MMOs, anime, and game music, this footage will do nothing for you.
If this wasn't enough for you, you can poke around the official Japanese Web site for Concerto Gate.

MOSTLY? It's 100% anime cutscenes. Are you sure it isn't a trailer for a really bad anime? I enjoy anime, MMOs and game music and this was terrible. Even if it was an anime I would never watch it.
Seriously, this tells me nothing about the game. It's an mmo and their debut trailer is some anime. How long has this been in development and you give me your concept art for it. No thx!

I'd sooner pay a monthly fee to play this on my PS3 or 360 than FF11. Why only PC, Squeenix?
Cut scenes or not, the trailer bodes well for a Eternal Sonata-looking MMO.
to be honest i would of much prefered ff 11 to wow if the game mechanics were more user friendly. Square have always been great at creating immersive worlds now they just have to learn (steal, whatever) from wow and they will have an mmo id be interested in.
About time Square gave us this game, as its been out in the east for ages. True, they'd need to get this onto 360 and PS3, to really get the success they clearly want.
On top of this Square, I'd still like to see Front Mission Online. Do the same with that, get in on consoles and you'd win back a lot of fans.
Ummm... hate to burst your bubble but there already WAS a Front Mission Online. It was in real-time, not turn based and it was apparently not very good, since Square-Enix stopped supporting the game officially a couple of weeks ago. Sad but true.

Personally, I have no interest in playing this style of MMO, but if the gameplay can knock my socks off...
Hides addiction to ellipses...

Also, are they gonna give the little green dude a rez or what? He got totally punked out of the slow, emotional high five . . .
Great music on that trailer, I think that's going a long way to impressing me.

Anyway, from the screenshots and vids of seen of the in-game it looks like a pretty fun game. I will definitely give it a shot.
Maybe make each person control a squad that they level up and join forces with for Army vs Army, 20 squad/100 character battles . . .
Or control and upgrade your mech and do freelancer/mercenary/journalistic/arena battler work . . .
sweet idea!
