Everyone wants everything to be a big series or franchise so thats hardly suprising.
Things like EA or Activision seem to only make games with the idea of just having a new series to milk to death.

Theatrhythm is excellent. Been playing it all morning. I squealed when I unlocked the Jenova boss battle music, and the music from inside the Giant of Babel in FF4.

Obviously they need to make a few games with Nintendo considering Nintendo has such a wide variety of classic tunes. Perhaps Theatrhythm Legend of Zelda, or wait....Theatrhythm Super Smash Bros. Get all classic Nintendo tunes in ONE game!

Seiken Densetsu + Chrono series would be excellent, as there aren't as many games in either franchise and yet plenty of excellent music in both. Throw in Final Fantasy Tactics and you got a winner.
Thing is, for some of their best music you'd basically have to mash up a bunch of smaller franchises together.

Theathrhythm: Dragon Quest needs to be inside me ASAP, even though Koichi "Japan didn't do nuthin'" Sugiyama is a dick, I love his music.
I don't know that any franchise has music as iconic as Final Fantasy, unfortunately. Other games in the series could be good, but I don't know that any would have as wide of an appeal.

Definitely enjoying the game, and that Theatrhythm Hitman bit made me laugh. Wouldn't mind Dragon Quest or Kingdom Hearts. DQ probably wouldn't do so well in the west though and KH doesn't have as rich a history as FF.
However, I am loving the boxart's reversible sleeve and my new "chocobo" stylus too. It had me giggling.

Every time this news is brought up across the various blogs, everyone immediately says "DRAGON QUEST!" I feel like I am the only person in the world who thinks all Dragon Quest music sounds the same, or at the very least is so homogenized that it wouldn't make for a very great rhythm game. Seiken Densetsu? Yes. Chrono? Yes. They both have great variety in music styles and tempo. Hell, you could arguably make Secret and Legend two separate games and Trigger and Cross two separate games. But Dragon Quest? I think people are just shouting it due to it being another massively popular JRPG series rather than really thinking about how it would work and sound as a rhythm game.

I wouldn't mind more games like this.. Not Hitman, thats a dumb idea, even as an "what if.." but Dragon Quest would be awesome.. I'd even stomach some obscurity like The Bouncer (remember that game?), where all the music is club music as you trounce people to dubstep. Or Parasite Eve, that could be creepy. I thought of Thief, but that could be as bad as the Hitman idea.
Honestly, I know the idea would be to make a quick game (and buck) off of existing music, but I think they'd be greatly served by making new stuff up with existing, underused properties. Square is known for a lot of things, and music is definetly one of them
Oh shit, how about a Full Metal Alchemist game? They own that property in all its forms, don't they? Alchemy set to rhythm? Even if it doesn't star Al and Ed, it could still be awesome.

Zelda is the only other game series I consider to have music as memorable and iconic as Final Fantasy. I'd buy the hell out of that!

I'd say the Mega Man franchise, or at least Mega Man 1-6 and X-X3, all had some pretty damn iconic music that would be fantastic for something like this.
Too bad it's a Capcom property.
