Square Enix Party 2007 announces a Final Fantasy game for every orifice photo
     Final Fantasy

Not enough Final Fantasy games on the Horizon for you? This ought to pitch a tent in your pants. Square Enix has announced an event called "Square Party 2007" on May 12th and 13th at Makuhari Messe, near Tokyo. Here's the full translation:

Square Enix released, in daily Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun, a publicity page  to  announce  their  special  event  "Square Enix Party 2007" which will take place  the  12th and 13th of next May at Makuhari Messe, a few kilometers east of Tokyo, Japan. We also find the logos of all of the shutters of the Final Fantasy series in development, as well as a phrase that's intriguing enough, but leaves us dreaming; "Evolution will never stop, the series continues ... and a new Final Fantasy that no one knows will enter the scene." So, will a new Final Fantasy really be presented on the 20th anniversary of the series? Something to follow very closely.

Square is so vague and dreamy. When I think about the main offices, I imagine a bunch of Japanese men and women in business suits, lazily having meetings and periodically smoking opium. It would definately explain the existance of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. Anyway, what the hell does "a Final Fantasy that no one knows mean"? More importantly, do we care?

Maybe they found a way into one of the Final Fantasy Worlds via a transdimensional rift that they opened with their own personal army of Black Mages and Materia stockpile.

"do we care?" Not me in particular, but according to sales figures, millions of folks do. I'd take the Shin Megami Tensei series any day of the week, but I'm a big geek, so there you go. I will say that Revenant Wings looks bad ass.

Here's to hoping for the first Final Fantasy since VI (save for IX) that doesn't suck and have an emo brat for a main character.

I care...

Yes the main characters are annoying emo boys, and the stories get stranger each time, but cmon, they are still really fun games to play... though I think this multiple game FF13 thing is way overboard

As long as they don't continue the new found knack for multiple games based on a single iteration of the series.

They must have hired the guys responsible for "Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo Ultimate Edition".

If you have a cool idea based on an expandable world, call it SOMETHING ELSE or else pull a Phantasy Star and use a persistent universe(well, until PSO, that is).

Sorry Square, i love you but, I can't blow 500 hours on all of your damn rpgs. I'm sorry but, we might have to take a break for a while....

On the other hand, isn't nice that people with all sorts of consoles can play FF? If you have a PSP, you get your FF. If you have a DS, you get your FF. It's nice for everyone. I don't really see a problem with it. Square knows what people want, and they're providing it.

I would complain if every FF game listed on that poster was exactly the same.

But although they all have similar elements in them, they're all different enough to spare them from my bitchin' and whinin'.

So a FFXIII trilogy might be a bad idea... but it couldn't possibly be as bad as FFX-2... can it? right? ... Although I'm certain it couldn't get worse still... I won't lie. I'm a little nervous.
