Square Enix makes an offer for Tecmo photo

Today, Square Enix will offer a bid for besieged developer, Tecmo. Kotaku is reporting that Square Enix is offering to buy shares at a 30 percent premium, and Tecmo has until September 4th to respond to the offer. If Tecmo chooses to decline Square Enix will peacefully withdraw the offer and go cry in a corner.

The acquisition would be a much more pleasant experience than what we have been experiencing in the U.S. between Electronic Arts and Take-Two Interactive, where public bashings have been a staple. Unlike Take-Two, Tecmo doesn’t have much of a leg to stand on after the loss of renowned developer Itagaki and president Yoshimi Yasuda.

I think at this point Square Enix is trying to get boobs, and I’m fine with that.  Very rarely am I impressed with anything Square Enix does outside of their RPG niche and certainly having the developer responsible for Dead or Alive, Fatal Frame, Ninja Gaiden, and Bad News Baseball will help fatten a slim portfolio. I find myself asking why this deal wouldn’t go through, and I can’t find any reasons. Instead, I’ll just privately hope for Dead or Alive Fantasy VII.

Seriously though, I'm sure that Tecmo's decision to keep Team Ninja without Itagaki means that Hayashi is probably going to take over the Ninja Gaiden series since Capital I can't tell them not to. We'll likely see some form of PS3 port of NG2 and NG3 down the line. Regardless, I like the idea of this being under SE's roof.

well square swallowed enix, taito and now wants tecmon

i bet if sunsoft and data east were around they would want some of that.

the whole problem that i see is every time, when the merger happens we never see another title of the former companies.

aside from space inveders extreme we never get any title from enix aside from dragon quest

i bet if they get tecmo they only going to push the DOA and Ninja gaiden games.

I sure hope it happens and Tecmo completely disappears into the void forever after releasing two more games, like with Taito!

All this would mean if it happens(and I hope it does) is that we won't see the end of DOA, and that all Final Fantasy games after the acquisition will have DOA's bewb physics.

Oh god, this is gonna suck. SE can't make anything worth a damn that doesn't sell directly to fanboys because of the label on it.

LIGHTNING'S BOOBS BOUNCE IN FFXIII CONFIRMED!

@ irvine_frost: Actually, when the Square Enix merger happened, Enix was the bigger (richer) company, and really, we're getting more games from them than from Square. Star Ocean, Infinite Undiscovery, Valkyrie Profile, Drakengard, Itadaki Street, Dragon Quest.. really, anything that isn't Final Fantasy or Kingdom Hearts is an Enix game. As for Tecmo, though, they really don't release games very often. Their big franchises are Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, Fatal Frame, Monster Rancher, and Gallop Racer. Out of those, only Gallop Racer (HURRAY) gets yearly updates, so chances are that it'll SEEM as if Tecmo's being ignored, but it'll most likely release games on their same schedule.

Enix also made Grandia. Don't know how I missed that one.

Also, I propose the new name be Square-Emo. It'll go along with FFVXIII anyway.
