Square Enix introduces Rewards Program, avatars and more photo

Square-Enix is determined to let gamers know that being a member pays (maybe mildly influenced by the excellent Atlus Spoils program?). To get the message across, they are introducing a new rewards program, which kicks off with Members points that come packed with Valkyria Profile: The Covenant of the Plume to start (and all Square games in the future). You can enter these in at the Members website and they will accumulate to earn goodies throughout the year. Cool!

The full summary of what being a member entails can be found here, but the short version is that a new community site, customizable 3D avatars and free goodies are coming your way sooner rather than later. No word on what the treats you will earn for points will be, but I'm quite interested to see what Square dishes up.

The more money you spend, the more points you accumulate to get exclusive stuff?

I wondered when they would do this. The Square-Enix members site has been around for awhile, but there was never a community aspect to it at all. Cool to see they finally finished it.

Great, now we'll have a million clouds/sephs/aerises running around.... (As if the average square fan would wanna make something else?)

About goddamn time! If they have anything like the Japanese one, with the Final Fantasy Special Box . . . all shall be well.

Does anyone else own multiple copies of Final Fantasy 1 - 6 and for different consoles?

BlackFreeFall: I own a copy of almost every version of FF1-6. GBA, NES/Famicom (JP and US), Super Famicom/SNES (JP and NES), PSX, and PSP. At one point I owned FF1, 2 and 4 on Wonderswan Color. I am an FF1-6 whore. Never had the MSX version of FF1 though. In fact I never had an MSX to play it on. I even have hacks of FF1 NES to make the game work the way it was supposed to. I was working on hacking the GBA rom to bring it more in line with the NES/WSC/PSX versions (raising the EXP required to level up back to it's original level, and a few other things).

Just like Club Nintendo from what I see... but that's not a bad thing. I just wish I could register old games :(

Me too OmegaPlatinum. I did get some sort of "Loyalty Bonus" from them and started with some points. Don't know where that came from.

What I find disturbing is that when you put together clothes for your avatar, its in a shopping cart, and while everything is free now, this implies clothes will cost money later.

Wonder which game will be the first with the registration codes...
