When I say Square-Enix, you think RPG: after all, that is what they are famous for. Some matlockery over at Siliconera shows that they are actually planning to bring adorable puzzle game Yosumin to the Nintendo DS for American audiences (the Japanese version has been out for a while).

The goal of Yosumin is simple -- you poke at colored blocks on the screen in an attempt to make rectangles and clear the blocks away, and each level has a set number of blocks the player must clear to move on. It sounds like simple fare, and ideal for the kind of mindless gaming I sometimes crave when I'm on an airplane, so I'll be keeping an eye out for this one very soon.

I watched the video and I don't exactly understand the gameplay. You get penalized depending on how many blocks of different colors you have in your rectangle?

Excellent. I love puzzle games.

But none are as good as Tetris Attack.

OMFG it's about time! I gave up on the game ever coming to the US long ago, and imported it. This game is one of the most fun puzzlers I've played on the DS.

Hmmm... Looks like a neat idea considering that I don't know how old it is and I've never heard of it before. It's also nice to see a grid-based puzzle game that isn't a Bejewelled rip-off.

I remember this! You have to drag-select over the biggest area that has blocks of one colour in all 4 corners and then all the blocks selected turn that colour.
