Sports games: the Wii has them, people play them photo

Jokes about one's Wii collecting dust under one's television might be true for many who don't seem to have discovered the good games on it yet, but it doesn't mean it's true for everyone. In fact there are people out there who spend hours playing bad games on the Wii as is demonstrated by the list of the most played sports games on the Wii that was put together by Kotaku. Using their scientific method of taking the stats from the Nintendo Channel they pulled together a list of sports games that get a lot of play

Kotaku uses a pretty generalized term of what a sports game is, but surprisingly it seems that mini-games (other than Wii Sports, which landed first) aren't the most played. Madden 08 and 09 come in third and fourth with 28 and 22 hours respectively and Fifa 09 charges into second with 29 hours. Since the channel only lists games played by a certain number of people it means that certain games aren't up there yet or may never show up. I would also wager that as more people play games like Tiger Woods 10, will climb the list faster.

I don't play sports games, but the last one I read about on the Wii didn't sound that bad at all. Full list after the jump.

I know plenty of people who play Madden all the time. Personally the only sports games of this generation that I have any interest in are The Bigs and it's sequel. It's a lot like NFL Blitz was back on the N64/PS1...un even if you don't like the sport. Something I really don't like about Sports Games on the whole is that there's really no timeless quality to them. Every year the next title outdoes them in every respect, but its all been done before so it's just been done and it's boring.

And by having a point, I mean that this data is a bit pointless to post as "news", and not that Matthew Razak doesn't know what he's talking about.

Just clarifying :D

I'm not a sports game fan so I was using my slanted and jaded opinion against them in my post as a bit of an intro. More sarcastic than serious.
