You can keep your Gran Turismo 5 in 2010. I've played it and yeah, it looks good. It has almost 1000 cars, the most realistic physics since the universe was created, and blah, blah, blah.

But not being a true fan of realistic, sim-style racers, the burning rubber game I'm looking forward to in 2010 is Disney Interactive Studios' Split/Second. Developed by Black Rock Studios (Pure), the game looks like it straps you down to a table and injects adrenaline right into your anus.

Just look at this latest trailer. I know, right!? Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go take a shower. I'm a bit sweaty.

this looks much better than blur, but i have to wonder how long will it take before youve seen all the events. i mean is it scripted or is the building structure damage realistic like. like if you blow up the same building in another race will it crumble onto the track differently or is the rubble in the same spots all the time? guess ill have to wait and see

I played some of it at E3 last summer and it left a very good impression on me. It's definitely the racing game that I have my eye on most for 2010.

this looks a lot more interesting as a game, than GT5 (for a non-car-lover)

Absolutely SICK. I too never get into sim racers. I want fast, I want curves slicker than Veronica Lake's hips to drift around, and I love interacting with the environment (see Burnout Paradise, or for the older group Rollcage/Rollcage 2). This baby looks like she has everything I need. And from my chum who's working on it, it's going to live up to everything you think it's going to be.

Normally I don't make an effort to go out immediately to buy a racing game, but this bad girl is lookin' to give me a good time the first day out.

Oh, and Fetus, the activation points are triggered by earning points in the race. Drafting, passing, tight cornering... earn enough poings and you can trigger the stuff in front of you to hopefully land in the lap of the guys behind you--or even in front. The second lap around the track is going to look VERY different than the first time you went through.

probably too early to call this the SSX of car racing, but that's when i thought when i watched the video.

also:

"You can keep your Gran Turismo 5 in 2015."

there, fixed.

Good luck with your Disney there, Nick. I'll be playing GT5.
