Splinter Cell: Conviction demo sneaks out this January photo

At a Ubisoft event in New York City yesterday, the excitable and amazing Hip Hop Gamer has confirmed that a demo for Splinter Cell: Conviction will be available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace this January.

"Just January for now," he was told when pushed for a specific date. Still, the vague "January" is better than nothing. January is only 31 days long, and the game ships on February 23. The wait, it seems, is finally almost over.

I had attended the same event, and unfortunately, the demo unit for Splinter Cell: Conviction was down. (Insert rusty trombone sound here.) That's too bad, because I'm already impressed with the game's unique presentation and visual style, and was hoping to get some hands on time with it.

I did get to spend some time chatting with Hip Hop Gamer who is easily one of my favorite people to see at press events, hands down. His passion and excitement for what he's doing and the games he's seeing is unmatched. Also, he'll do on the spot push ups to show his enthusiasm for a game. Awesome.

Splinter Cell Conviction makes me scratch my head. I liked the stealth elements of the others SCs, this one seems much more action oriented, Bourne-like.

Script-br. I'm 100% certain stealth will play a major pivotal role in the new one. It's what the franchise is afterall. I'd be very surprised if it was dumbed down in any way - it would be totally unecessary, and it's not as if the Splinter Cell IP was in any way getting boring, at least not to me, anyway.

For those that feel slighted by the direction Ubisoft is taking this game, I can only point to reviews of the last Splinter Cell, which were good, but not great.

Most people thought the series was starting to get stale. Personally I cannot agree or disagree as I have only played the original Splinter Cell.

I just hope Ubisoft doesn't go the usual cop-out route and makes the Co-Op some derivitive variation of the Singleplayer campaign and slaps a Co-Op label on it. infinity Ward is the latest developer to do this.

@ rammstein- I tottaly agree, developers need to stick to what works and makes games like SC and MGS so unique.

I'm pretty confident that the game will be awesome.
The first one was great, the second was too short, the third one was amazing, the fourth one had its flaws. Going by that logic, the fifth one will be awesome. Rock on Ubi Montreal.

I'll be looking for this. Splinter Cell used to be one of my favorite game series until Double Agent. Hopefully Ubisoft does right by me.

SCEJ’s recent trademark doesn’t confirm or convince us that paid PSN subscriptions are indeed on tesking the platform creator’s “to-do” list, but it does make us think that Sony might be considering delivering digital content in a different way.

On December 28th, Sony of Japan trademarked the name “Cloudsurf” for use with just about anything with a chip -- from CD players to audio recorders, down to televisions, video cameras, PDAs, and <comptia a+ “portable game machines.”

According to the filing, Cloudsurf will provide “game services” and “entertainment services” via the Internet. Games, audio, and video content as well as “electronic publications,” radio, and TV is said to be under its hood.

Paid PSN rumors got hot thanks to a ccda testking marketing survey that teased a variety of features. The list included one-hour game trails, exclusive in-game content, and free access to the PSOne Classic store. The Cloudsurf trademark suggests none of this is happening, but trademarks are always delightfully vague.

If Cloudsurf sounds like the way you’re receiving content now, don’t panic: you’re correct. The reason for this trademark is beyond us at the moment. It might have been created just to screw with me on adumps for ccna Friday evening several days after the fact.

During the first half of 2009, deal flow has hit about $130 billion from 321 deals. That's not just better than last year, it's better by <a href="http://acher.ru/forum/showthread.php?p=60527">movies</a> 60 percent, the analysis notes. Those deals include the acquisition of <a href="http://board.muse.mu/showthread.php?t=67841">Muse in Korea</a>/First Health division by Magellan Health, Health Net of the Northeast by UnitedHealth, and the buyout of NextRx Pharmacy Benefit Management by Express Scripts from WellPoint.

Now, nobody's sure quite how health reform will affect healthcare <a href="http://boards.trutv.com/showthread.php?p=40392">Tru TV</a>, so private equity firms are playing it cool for a few months. After all, reform could do everything from pumping lots more insured folks into the system to lowering reimbursements for everybody.

Splinter Cell: Conviction introduces a number of new gameplay features to the series, one of which is the "pink photography" feature, which allows the player to mark specific targets, such as enemies or objects, and shoot them when they burst through a door or movies. The player can choose to prioritize these targets, so that, for example, he could distract one guard by shooting out a light in his vicinity and then take out another guard. Another new feature is the "Last Known Position", which occurs when the player breaks the line of sight of an alerted Muse in Korea. This creates a visual silhouette of where the guard thinks Sam is, allowing the player to strategically flank his enemies. Main target subjects can use the player's abilities against them. The Tru TV can be taken hostage by the subject in co-op mode; the hostage's partner can neutralize the subject by shooting them or grabbing them off his teammate

One of the clearest lessons of the last few decades is that capitalism is indestructible. Marx compared it to a vampire, and one of the salient points of642-642comparison now appears to be that640-863always rise up again after being stabbed to death. Even Mao’s attempt, in the Cultural Revolution, to wipe out the traces of capitalism, ended up in its triumphant return70-432. Today’s Left reacts in a wide variety of ways to the hegemony of global capitalism and its political supplement, liberal democracy. It might, for example, accept the hegemony220-702, but continue to fight for reform within its rules (this is Third Way social democracy).
