Splatterhouse: First image and details revealed photo
     Horror games

I hate 1UP right now, sitting on top of all that delicious Splatterhouse info and slowly distributing scraps to the masses like capricious Roman emperors from on high. Ah, screw it, I will take whatever I can get.

The above image is Rick's new in-game look for the Xbox 360/PS3 resurrection of Splatterhouse. It's a slight departure from the more blatant Voorhees rip-off, especially the Hulk Hogan arms, but I can dig it. It has a hyper-real look that should hopefully mean we've got some ridiculously over-the-top, cartoony gore to look forward to.

In addition, it has been revealed that Splatterhouse is to be developed by Bottlerocket, the team that brought us Mark of Kri and Rise of the Kasai. I wasn't actually all that keen on Kri, but I know it's considered a generally solid action game, so it's good to see the team has had some success in the past when it comes to combat-driven gameplay. Finally, the game is due for release mid-2009.

That's all they'll tell us, the fiends. When EGM hits, someone be a dear and scan everything in for your humble, UK-bound writer, please.

Since you mention the arms, I'm reminded of something. That's actually almost exactly what Rick looks like when you get him powered-up in Splatterhouse 3. It's possible that they're following more in that vein and there's a weaker, more standard appearance for Rick also.

before scanning the pictures, i will be kissing them Jim, so as long as you don't mind the occasional mark and of course, the manditory bodily fluids, no problem

@Conrad

Your right about that one, hopefully this is what's going on here, because at the moment Rick looks abit outdated, reminds me of the character design they used for Thrill Kill on the PSX.

YES! I loved the Kri series. It is good to know that this is at least in capable hands. I wonder if they'll use their same system for kill shots with different weapons. Mmmm, I can taste the blood already and it is good.

Mark of Kri had an interesting combat system where you could easily fight numerous enemies at the same time. Sounds like a good match to buckets and buckets of gore.

Kri and Kasai weren't bad games, just overshadowed by more popular titles at the time. Kind of put off by the steroid-induced massive upper body myself, but it's gameplay that really matters.

I'd love to see some gameplay, I wonder if it will be a 3d sidescroller, or a whole 3d game. Hopefully the former.

This will fucking kick ass, Mark or Kri and Kasai where some of the best action games around and more importantly, they where quite violent, something Splatterhouse must be.

The graphics look dated to me, too. Its either a very early model or they are dumbing it down for a full-on Wiimote release too
