BlazBlue not winning Best Fighting Game made me rage. Hard. I think I quite literally screamed 'BULLSHIT!'.
That is to say. I quite enjoyed SFIV, though BlazBlue was definitely my favourite fighting game this year.

Huh. Nothing surprising there i suppose. Best PC game and Action adventure were kind of whatever, but not surprising.

Yes with Dragon Age winning RPG of the year, I wish it would of won GOTY. I really wish AC2 would of won GOTY though at least it won action game of the year.

I'm glad DJ Hero got something. That game deserves every bit of credit it gets.

even though Street Fighter 4 is not most people's GoTY for fighters, I guess i should be happy it won...but it was obvious this was going to happen anyway.

everything else don't care.

i like dragon age, but seriously thought demon's souls was much more innovative and polished. Definitely should have won. Ah well, its just the vgas.

Did anyone else feel like the Nintendo games were kind of out of place with the whole "ZOMG violence/boobs" theme of the night? I mean, I'm happy NSMB Wii won and that Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story was nominated, but still...

So glad DJ Hero got best licensed soundtrack as I truly believe it deserved it. But what's this noise about Hugh Jackman and Megan Fox winning acting awards? Celebrity bullshit much?

Other than that I am actually pretty surprised about the awards as I think I either agree with most of them or feel like they weren't as predictable as the pessimist believed.

Demon's Souls didn't get anything....fucking people, I swear.

I was surprised that Chinatown Wars beat Bowser's Inside Story too after all the rave reviews favoring BIS.

I'm still struggling to understand how Uncharted 2 doesn't win Action/Adventure, but does win game of the year.

Also, U2 won the most awards of the night, but if you weren't paying attention, you missed it. Way to go, Spike.

I'm just happy MW2 didn't get GOTY. Which was surprising in itself considering the circumstances.

Little surprised at GOTY, But glad it wasnt MW2. All of the awards seem well awarded as each game is fully deserving.

Jack Black's performance/acceptance speech was a mix of reactions from me. On one hand I wanted to laugh. On the other, I didn't. Also, Mike Tyson and Stevie Wonders were awesome :) I particularly liked how Stevie actually said something about how developers should try to make games that cater to people with disabilities :)

Assassin's Creed 2 winning Action Adventure game is bullshit, it was Batman Arkham Asylum's title! And Ghostbustesrs should've won best game based on movie/tv show... or even Wolverine. But no. Stupid tower defense game South Park themed won. That was also a silly choice by the voters. But at all, it was great. I mean, MW2 didn't won GOTY. And that's just damn great for me, since I was cheering for Uncharted 2 and Batman. :D

Not a single Japanese game winning anything except for SFIV...I am not surprised one bit, yet am still highly disappointed. Also, Arkham Asylum losing to Assassin's Creed 2? I'm calling bullshit.

Ah well, no point getting riled up over a video game event like this that has absolutely no credibility, relevance, or common sense.

This is just me, but I believe that any game that put forth considerable effort to compose it's own soundtrack is well deserving of the best soundtrack award by far, even if it isn't in the classical genre. This might just be one fan griping on how the awards were chosen, but even I can believe I saw a pattern at this year's VGAs.

All other categories aside I believe this year's Best Soundtrack Game should go to something not catering to the metal world of gaming. Metal music is great as it's own caste of music, but it should not headlien or overshadow complex musical orchestras. Any other game besides DJ hero or any of the other nominees should deserve that title more than that piece of crap. If this is the future of videogame soundtracks then I fear for both sides of the conflict.

I wished Demons Souls would have won, but I kinda knew it wouldn't. Also, how did South Park Tower Defense win? who voted for that? Overall I can't complain.

Demon Souls wouldn't win because kids/teens these days don't know a real good hard game is in their face.

They got the game of the year right.

But the Studio of the year wrong. It HAD to be Naughty Dog. I mean, they achieved a game that looks gorgeous, runs smoothly and only loads one time during the whole game (when you start it), with a great story and really fun gameplay.

I am satisfied overall with the vgas. The only thing I would have changed is Demon's souls for best rpg.

I agree with everyone who said something about demon's souls. I am happy to see Street Fighter IV get a win. I never really liked blazblue but then again I never got into the guilty gear series.

If L4D2 didn't win GOTY, I hoped Uncharted or Batman would win. Good thing that happened. I couldn't believe some of the choices, like MW2 not sweeping not really surprised me. Better than usual, I'll say that much. Best performances by Male/Female were bullshit, however.

I'm glad MW2 didn't take everything. I mean, it is a great game (I spend tons of time with it, but only for the multiplayer), but not nearly as polished as some of the other titles.

Tie for me between Dragon Age and Demon's Souls. Just glad they both got nominated and one of them won. Definitely felt GotY was spot on. Question AC2 winning over U2 for the one category, though. Really scratching my head on that one.

@Xzyliac: That comparison might work if you changed Best Action/Adventure game to Best Graphics and Best Score. But, we're talking Best Game and Best Action/Adventure game. If the best game of the year is an Action/Adventure game, then it kind of goes without saying that it obviously is the best Action/Adventure game of the year.

well, actually it not winning best action/adventure makes sense since when people vote a lot just go for game of the year, also AC2 is on more consoles so it has a possibility for more votes,

its all up to votes, because if it were a panel of judges or whatever U2 would have got both

Rather shocked to see that Mewtwo didn't get GOTY. U2 was a pretty amazing game though and I can't deny that it deserved it. Also really glad to see that flower got best Indie game.

Why is ANYONE surprised at this list? Spike VGA's is the fratboy videogame awards. If some college dude can play it drunk and possibly do something that kinda looks like teabagging, it's going to win over any games that are of any kind of quality.

In fact, I'm surprised to see Uncharted on the list, it's too high quality for the brand of people who care about Spike TV.
