Spike TV video game award winners: Debate to death photo

Spike TV had their little video game awards show last night, and I'm sure you're dying to know who won what. You may be shocked by some of the choices. Others, you may just flat out pissed. Most of us, however, are probably pretty indifferent as it doesn't really mean anything 'cause the show is one big ad-fueled orgy of a spectacle (you see, our age demo, the young male, is like crack to an advertiser, so this award show is a good excuse to try to pull in major bank). Anyway, big winners below and more after the jump.

Wow, Dtois didn't seem to care that this was coming, doesn't seem to care much now that it's come either. I find myself additionally, not caring.

Alyx Vance, a vixen? I think she's hot, but a vixen she is not. As far as the rest of the list, I guess it's good to know this has all come and gone, but if this post hadn't shown up I would have forgotten completely that SpikeTV does this worthless program every year. Ho hum.

The fact that we didn't win anything completely invalidates the whole show.

I'm not surprised, as I don't think there was a single indie person on the judge panel.

Two of my girlfriends got to go to the awards show. One was dating a winner... guess who? And the other one covered the red carpet event. I'm so jealous right now.

Knowing this was Spike, I could have written the winners list before I ever heard it and without knowing what was nominated.

I suppose it's good to recognize gaming except that the association with Spike and the games they choose (for the most part) seems to reinforce that video games are for big dumb guys who want to kill pretend shit on their mega wide screen penis extenders.

I went last night, the intro was pretty funny as Sam Jackson killed off guitar hero players with his gears of war gun while running into the king from oblivion, other than that it was pretty much advertisement up the hole, the only worth while thing was watching the cast of reno 911 and hearing people boo yellowcard and sarah silverman for making fun of gamers haha

Injustice. But...I guess I only own one of the games on that list, anyway..

I didn't see the Wii or Legend of Zelda on any of the ballots so I was surprised they were mentioned at all. I just don't like how they set up the whole ballots being before the holiday rush of game releases. The whole thing is a damn spectacle anyways.

Ballistic90...

Wii was under best technology and even though it was before the holiday rush thereby not giving Zelda a chance to be entered for game of the year....Gears of War was entered after mere days of its released.

For the most part I enjoyed the awards show. I mostly enjoyed yelling at 50 cent "Your game sucks!" when he was presenting an award. Booing Yellowcard the whole time they were doing their speech "Get off the stage asshole!", and Sarah Silverman "You're not funny!" Apparently I got a few people in the 1st Floor to laugh (I was in the front from in the 2nd level) and basically my goal there was to humiliate as many celebrities as I could...and watch the Burning Crusade intro, which was awesome because Blizzard brought in a choir who sang during the trailer. The banter between Samuel and Stweie throughout were good and Samuel ad-libbed a fair amount because we were seated where we could see the teleprompter.

Only thing I'm looking forward to with watching it is seeing if I can hear myself during it (which I'm hoping I can, I yelled fairly loud).

I think Spike TV/MTV is honestly trying harder, especially MTV with their recent acquisitions (GameTrailers, Xfire, Harmonix). They're not there yet and have a ways to go, but if let the community really get involved (especially a site such as this) it would help the credibility of it.

BlindsideDork, that IS my problem. For a proper award ceremony to take place, it should be after the end of the year. It's rather farcical to do it this early.

What... Patrick Stewart was in Oblivion for all of five minutes.

I mean, Patrick Stewart is awesome and all, and I guess he did a pretty good job as Uriel Septim VII, but still... five, maybe ten minutes tops.

That would be like Steven Segal getting a best actor bid for Executive Decision or something. (Well, maybe not quite as outrageous as that since, well, Patrick Stewart can actually act and all, but yeah.)

Capslock is cruise control for cool right?

Anyways, since no one takes the show seriously anyways I wanted to have a good time. I have zero regrets for what I did and said that night. Yes I was an ass, only because a lot of the show was a total mockery of videogame culture and I wasn't about to just let it go without me voicing my opinion. At least I got part of the crowd to heckle with twoards the end.

Most of the people I talked to enjoyed my heckling, I'm sorry you didn't though. Hope you didn't have o *gasp* pay for your ticket.

And I also want to say what I did was totally out of character for me. I dunno what it was, just the whole celebrity presenter thing really lit a fire under me...

I'm sorry if I ruined the show for anyone. Heh, well now I am contradicting myself. But yeah, I had a good time, hopefully I didn't ruin your time there. :/

Man, I really like those games that won. And when the hell did project 8 get bad reviews? It has an 83% on gamerankings, it's a great game for the 360. No matter, people always disagree when it comes to things getting awards.

ahah capslock cruise control i like it, yeah i agree celebrity presenters were whack especially 50 cent, its just its called respect dude i really don't think you would like someone booing you on winning an award even though it was fixed or booing your little act it just isn't respectful to the artist, i got my ticket for free pfft i wouldn't pay for that hahah, but i must say the "your not funny" clap clap clap was pretty funny i just saw it as disrespectful and wouldn't think you would appreciate the same response when your live in front of millions of viewers.
