A brand new video showcasing the gameplay in Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions has hit the web (har de har har) and it has to be said that the results are rather impressive so far. With Arkham Asylum causing critics to jizz up a storm last year, comic book games have their work cut out for them, and it seems that Shattered Dimensions is aiming to live up to the new standard.
What do you think, looking at the footage? Could we indeed have a second strike of lightning for the comic book game scene, or are you unimpressed by what you've seen of Shattered Dimensions thus far? Let the world know!

With any luck us Superman fans will get both a decent game and movie come 2 years from now. However I'm not holding my breath on that.
Jim, Never change. x
I too hope this is level based for gameplay's sake.
Its a brawler. The same half ass brawler Spider Man games turns out to be.
Spider man is the incredible frachise whose games dosent need movies to be as bad as movie games.
Spiderman is not exactly known for his grim and gritty visuals in the comic, and while the pause-every-punch thing kinda worked in Arkham Asylum, here it only makes Spidey look stiff.
Even God of War, that was supposed to be grim and gritty, had more fluid animations and more coloful enviroments.
I don't like it.
So is it just me or are they going for a God of War vibe?
Tha ts EXACTLY what i was thinkin about 30 seconds into this. Although that might not be a bad thing, mixing that with some webslinging around, could be either really fun, or total shit.

The gameplay looked alright. My hopes are high after the awesomeness of Web of Shadows. That one really good Spider-Man game that apparently only I and that guy at Joystiq who claimed it should've been GOTY played. >.>
Sounds good now? Well it won't be long until the formula gets tired.
Also, Spider-Man's spider-tits have become raw and swollen from all the milking. I would have liked another character in his place.
Camera seems to be a bit stiff and unless it's made far more fluid I can see a lot of reviewers complaining about headaches as Spider-Man fluidly spins and the camera jerks along.
All the 'web weapons' seem really unnecessary and it's like they're just trying to make this a GoW/Dante's Inferno clone.
At this point I think the thing that's being neglected is a sampling of the dialogue. B:AA did so well with casting voice actors and writing great dialogue and there's a similar opportunity with Spider-Man. Spidey's a loudmouth and I'd rather not hear about a game where you hear him say the same 3-word quip every 5 seconds in combat.

awesome!
They did a pretty good job with the art style of the game. Spidey actually looks like a comic book character. I'm a huge Spiderman fan so I hope to the gaming gods that this will be good. I'm not entirely impressed by the combat yet, it seemed like they were just doing the same thing over and over for two minutes.
Second, I am liking, kind of, the looks of the game. I like the change of the entire city is open up thing! I mean, after spider man 2, it was just old and tired-plus the city had ZERO personality-nothing like just causes and GTA's-those cities areas had more life. So, i like and hope they stay away from the OPEN city thing-cause they can't do a good job at it. Next, i was always hoping for a more of a mix of the wolverine-newest game and batman A.A. mix vibe. I always wanted to be spidey and sneak up to badies on the ceiling with my web crawl then yank them up with my web to the ceiling, scarying the crap out of the other badies! Batman did a great job at that, and the creators should work with that idea...
Goddamn! That song was fucking awful.
But that freakin' song has got to go! Holy crap, that's bad.
I take that back. The song would be good if it was instrumental. But someone slit the singer's throat pronto.

Oh, and:
@AdamantiumHip-
You are not alone. Web Of Shadows was the best Spider-man game ever made. I love it, too.
So naturally Activision took it away from the developer who got it right.
Sigh.
