Spider-Man on PS3 to be all kinds of special photo
     Spitting hot fire

If you can't have exclusive titles, then you may as well have some exclusive content that can sell a game for your system. Such is the case with Spider-Man 3 for the PlayStation 3. Check out what kind of exclusive junk you'll be able to get (which, by the way, is pretty damn cool for any Spidey fans):

The PS3-exclusive Spider-Man 3: Collector's Edition:

Scheduled for a simultaneous release with the regular version of Spider-Man 3 in early May, Spider-Man 3 Collector's Edition will add a number of bonus features not available on other platforms. Webisodes from the Spidey 3 movie, an exclusive interview with producer Avi Arad, and behind the scenes talks with Tobey Maguire, Topher Grace, Thomas Haden Church, James Franco, JK Simmons, and Bruce Campbell are also included. Players will even be able to access special Spider-Man 3 trailers and a couple of other undisclosed goodies.

But that's not the best part.

No true believers, the best and most interesting addition to the PS3 Collector's Edition is the ability to play as a completely different character, the "New Goblin." Using a unique locomotion system that's entirely controllable with the Sixaxis gamepad, the New Goblin will be able to zip through the city streets and between skyscrapers and other buildings at super-high speeds.

Well at least they didn't give it exclusive lack of content a la Virtua Tennis.

Who'd have guessed that Sony Pictures would have given Sony Entertainment exclusive content for their game. Playing the goblin sounds fun and it actually seems like it would work well with the sixaxis. Plus the thing the goblin rides on kinda looks like a sixaxis controller, though the real one probably rumbles

HOW THE FUCK ARE YOU GOING TO MENTION THE SPECIAL CONTENT FOR THE PS3, BUT NOT THE WII?!

Wii gets two bonus villians, and I even e-mailed D'toid about this a week ago. Give me a fucking break.. shit doesnt piss me off until Im involved.

I think playing as the Goblin using the Sixaxis could be interesting. But other then that the collector's edition doesn't really seem to be all that interesting. As I'm sure that we'll end up seeing the other extras somewhere else.

I also thought the PS2 was getting a collector's edition that was exclusive to Gamestop and EB Games. At least this is actual content and not just some BS bonus content.

Who wanna bet that this "exclusive" content will be on Live a few months (or even weeks) later?

If you doubt it, let me give you a simple reason: easy money.

And yeah, I'm not impressed by the looks of the "New Goblin" either...

I wouldn't be surprised if something like that did end up happening. After all it seems that nothing is really that exclusive anymore.

And I must agree that the new Goblin looks pretty bad, I think he may look even worst then the first Green Goblin...

@Snaileb:

The two bonus villains for Wii hasn't been officially confirmed, that was some EB bullshit. Take it with a grain of salt for now. There is supposed to be some unique web swinging controls with the wiimote/nunchuck, we'll have to see how that turns out. I'm hoping for "mega awesome".

It's cool that they're using all that space on the blueray discs for some bonus feature goodies, of course not surprising considering who's releasing the movie. What I want to know is, what the hell is the "Spider-Man Trilogy" game that was announced for the end of this year for all systems?

Hmm.. just a FYI for those who didnt read comics in the 90's when Harry finds out his father was the green goblin he uses the technology to become "the new goblin" but as a "super hero" not a villain. Trying to cleanse his father name in the process, Peter finds out goes parental on him and kicks his ass to prove he has no business as a superhero with no powers or training and he is just risking his family (he is married and had a son in the comic) . Unfortunately Harry escapes drinks his father formula to become super strong and of course he goes completely batshit loco due to the side effects, turning himself into the green goblin part 2.

Aparently the part Sony has added is that period in which Harry tries to become a super hero (which makes no sense since he doesnt know his father was the green goblin) he is not using the goblim mask because he is not completely nuts (yet) he is just using the military prototype they were building in (part 1) and that his father used for the green goblin outfit.

Fanboys complained when the green goblin didn't look military enough (and you could see his lips moving from behind the mask) so I guess they made the new goblin a Master Chief paintball guy. lame.

Yeah but the sixaxis sucks all kinds of suck, so what difference does it make? It's broken! On the other hand, I have to admit, all this extra content sounds way cool. Now if only PS3 wasn't so freaking expensive and shit, I might get it!

And, yes, the "new" Goblin looks pretty craptacular. Maybe he'll exploit Spidey's weak spot and bust a Backside 180 for massive damage.

Thats not the Green goblin thats the New goblin aka is Harry using a military outfit not his father's costume.

Dont worry by the end of the movie he should be using the ridiculous power ranger outfit from spiderman 1 (if the story follows the comic which is most possible) yay!

@ Azrael:

The first thing Harry does when he finds out is attack Spidey as the 2nd Green Goblin... back in Amazing #136 from 1974. He had his memories repressed eventually and Peter & Harry's friendship rekindled. Harry did take on the GG mantle again to protect his family from the Hobgoblin. He thought about but never used the GG costume in a superhero role because of his responsibility to his family (Are you thinking of Ben Urich's nephew?) It wasn't long before he started going crazy again and stalking Peter & MJ. He was insane BEFORE he took the imperfect Goblin Formula that ended up killing him.

And I think movie Harry probably realized that his dad was the Green Goblin at the end of Spider-Man 2. :)

Blame Sam Raimi, "New Goblin" is in the movies and can be seen in the Spidey 3 trailers. And I'm betting anything Harry won't be around for Spidey 4. :)

the interviews and what not will most likely appear on the DvD, cool to see it early though. Controlling new goblin? Thats pretty awesome, but is this just like 'fly around' or is there missions and what not? Sony DOES own this franchise so, it seems right that they get all this extra stuff (they have the rights to it.)

I've never used the 6axis, but I hear the motion isn't working out too well. It's a shame this isn't available on the Wii version (goblin) but I'll be satisfied with the 2 bonus villains; Morbius and Shriek.

Mxyzptlk, Tobey Maquire and Kirsten Dunst have said that they will only do 3, anything after that they'll have to find 2 new lead roles, which they might as well not make another at all. $50 on that Peter and MJ get married at the end of Spiderman 3 and live happily ever after.

They haven't said for certain if they're doing 4 or not (their contracts expire at 3), both Maguire and Dunst are suggesting that they're getting kinda sick of it. Having huge bags of money thrown at them could change their tune. And there will be a 4, trust me. Even if Raimi & the principle cast aren't involved, Sony and Marvel will milk that cash cow until it's bone dry. I'll expect my $50 in 2009-10. :)

Hobgoblin in the regular Marvel Universe was originally a guy who stumbled upon one of Norman Osborn's hideouts and stole his gear, using it to become a supervillian. In all honestly, he was created by Roger Stern so Spidey would have a goblin character to fight that didn't involve bringing Green Goblins 1 & 3 back from the dead or making Harry evil again. There's been like 5 Hobogoblins (2 of which were mind-controlled patsies thanks to retconing) and 4 Green Goblins (1 of which was a good guy).

Now in the Ultimate Marvel Universe, Harry IS Hobgoblin but turns into a firey orange Hulk-like monster. Confused yet? :)

velcroman: I would take those $50 too, but Im trying to quit gamble, so will just do a gentlemen bet ok? ;)

Anyway Mx is right, there are like 6 movies suposedly in production and at least 2 major villains (the lizard Dr. Connors and Felicia Hardy "Black Cat") that havent shown up yet but have been mentioned in the films, so I definetily wouldnt bet against a sequel. (they mentioned Eddie Brock "Venom" in the first one remember?)

Also "off the record" one guy in production "accidentelly" gave away the finale of 3 at the san diego Comic Con last year. I wont spoil it but I will say this, it definetily doesnt END in 3.

Weither they were pulling their fans legs or they decided to change it for whatever reason is up for grabs, we will have to wait 'til may to know for sure.

I know what you mean. Because isn't the character of Edie Brock supposed to be threatening? And what about Topher Grace remotely says threatening at all?

Anyways, I have to ask, how closely related in content will all the versions of the game be? Reason I'm asking is that the Spiderman 2 movie game on the PC was radically cut down from it's console counterparts making me feel a tad ripped off and I don't want to repeat the same mistake.
