Honestly, it's not the mechanics of the game that concern me. It's the length. What I've discovered as the most important factor these days in games for me is the length of the campaign, and the replay value it has. I can't waste money on a game that's only going to be pretty good for about 6 to 8 hours on one playthrough with no reason to replay it.
I'm not saying that'll be the case here, but that was the main reason I avoided the last Spider-Man game, and I'd actually like to play a good Spider-Man game this generation.

Man just do what I do, buy it new, beat it fast, then Craigslist that bitch! If its within the first 2 weeks people will still happily pay 45 shmackers. Assuming it has low replay value of course.
Oh wow. That looks really fun! I'm getting a bit of an Asura's Wrath vibe, what with all the dashing and rapid-fire attacks.
@ Son of Makuta: If you want to play something more like Asuras Wrath, get GodHand. That game was insane. The last boss was insanity! I couldn't believe it once I beat the game.
For a second I wondered, what's the strategy in releasing this two weeks before Arkham City? Then I realized, lol, because this way they won't have to release it two weeks after.
To me, the most important part of a Spidey game is swinging. Every other game has combat in it, no other character can shoot out webs and swing throughout a city. They f@#%ed it up on the last game (webs would attach themselves to an invisible barrier) and this one is no better.
Morbo is correct in that I think the strongest aspect of a Spidey game is swinging, and if nothing else the swing mechanics in this game work. The game takes place in lots of enclosed areas though, so combat is a bigger focus, and it's nothing especially complex or deep.
As far as Spidey games go this one is the most epic in scope I've seen before. The opening credits are ridiculously impressive, and the acting and dialog is pretty impressive.
The story's not perfectly written or anything, but lots of cool ideas. If you're a Spider-Man fan I think this game's biggest strength is just the dialog. There's an incredible amount of sarcastic banter in this game.

The combat looks the exact same as the previous game Shattered Dimensions. I don't mean similar either IT IS THE EXACT SAME! They added some new things like the speed dash thing for Amazing Spider-Man but that's not enough to justify a new release. It looks like a shameless cash in rehash of the last game except with 2 less characters, one of which being noir who IMO had the most compelling gameplay of the 4 anyway. If this game is well received I will buy a hat, wear it around until people get used to me with it, and then eat the fucking thing.
