First Spacecat tells us of a Mega Man 9 game in the works. Later, we hear more details, which point out online play, leader board functions, and multiplatform releases. And most recently, we heard that the game would be on Nintendo's WiiWare service, sporting a retro look.
Our favorite feline rumormonger may now be licking his wounds in shame after some clarification from Capcom. An update blurb at the end of an Ars Technica article on Mega Man 9 states:
Capcom pinged us to let us know that the game is currently slated "for WiiWare only" and that the information indicating otherwise in the E3 roster was a mistake on its part.
This was Capcom's response to Ars Technica's report that Nintendo would be getting Mega Man 9 first. Now it looks like Nintendo will be the only ones getting Mega Man 9!
Aw, come on. This is Capcom we're talking about here. Do you think that this may be a timed exclusive, and that Spacecat was right all along?

Not that the graphics are a knock on the game or anything. I just don't see anything about the game being much of a match for the HD systems....
Sounds like Capcom is trying to backpeddle its way outta something.
Capcom have been good friends with Nintendo for ages now, even if it is a timed exclusive the wait for 360 and PS3 owners will be a Rock Band Europe sized one I think.
But.. but.. I want my 8-bit pixels to look VERY square-y! Not square with tv blur around.

The 8-bit doesn't bother me, but looking at the screenies from Nintendo Power I could name the stages from previous Mega Man games it looks similar. I don't want to play a stage that looks like Air Man's stage. I want something new!
I was hoping it would be in HD, just so it would look nice and crisp on my TV. I guess 480p would look okay too.

So true, except add PC exclusives to this. I just read the article complaining about Diablo not getting ported... so retarded. 360 and PS3 fans need to realize that their wasteful spending does not entitle them to total game mastery. Both the PC and the Wii have more owners....
I'd be really surprised if this wasn't the highest selling WiiWare game ever made. Honestly. If you consider how little this must cost to make, I think Capcom will be quite happy with it. Honestly, I think there's a chance for a whole series of WiiWare Mega Man games if this sells well enough.
