SouthPeak to publish TNA wrestling titles in 2010 photo

As Midway Games crumbled and was eventually gobbled up by Warner Bros., the fate of franchises and licenses hung in the balance. Games like Mortal Kombat, Spy Hunter... we were all concerned. But for those concerned about the fate of the Total Nonstop Action wrestling license, worry no more.

In its financial report, SouthPeak Interactive revealed that it had acquired "certain assets" from Midway relating to the TNA iMPACT wrestling brand. Already announced are two games that will be released next year -- TNA iMPACT: Cross the Line for PlayStation Portable/PSPgo and Nintendo DS.

No word if those "certain assets" also included the sequel to Midway's console TNA title, which was released in 2008 for Wii, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

And now you know.

Dear god, Southpeak?

Did they just combine the two worst major publishers in recent history into one?

Ewww. I effing hate anything that says southpeak. The only OK game they had was on DS called big bang mini.. I would just stay away in general.. i hear southpeak games are cancerous.

I will never get over the fact that they called perhaps one of the least sexiest anything's in history TNA.

Unless the DS version goes the Fire Pro Wrestling route (aka, pixels) then I foresee many bad things in that version's future.

Alright, I KNEW I wasn't crazy. I swore I saw Kurt Angle with grills in his mouth, but thought "Nah, way too ridiculous!"

Here is the recipe for success for making a good TNA game on PSP or DS:

Take the iPhone game, and just port it. Seriously, that game is freaking SWEET.

I don't think it's possible for them to make the game worst than the show, so more power to them.

there's a small chance we might get a No Mercy styled game, where the focus is on fun game play rather than SDVR's focus on nipples and beads of sweat.

So don't sweat it, people! At least wait for a preview to trash it lol

Anythings better than WWE's crap games at this point..

Current wrestling games suck as much as current wrestling itself. Period. And the games will continue to suck until a developer looks closely at what makes a wrestling title fun... The game play.
Think AKI/Asmik, dammit! It's been close to ten years since No Mercy... And still no signs of solid improvement.
THQ, please, give it up. We get it already. Okay, you can deliver realistic blood and sweat. Congratulations. Now, give us better game play already!

Having Velvet Sky on their roster justifies the use of the acronym.

TNA Impact was alright just had few game modes and felt like Midway wanted to make it like No Mercy but failed. Still if they are making it for PSP/DS then I wonder if a PS3/Xbox 360 version will pop up.

ya know really the gameplay in the console impact title wasn't bad, there just wasn't very much to it. it actually took the aki wrestling games grappling system and tweaked it. if only they were allowed the time to itterate on the series like how SvR has gotten the luxury. all it would've really taken was a more extensive movelist with way better create-a-character. also all the arenas were just dumb but thats due to the fact that tna only does ppvs outside the impact zone a couple times a year and their sets never change.

but its kinda sad to see how many people don't know the product. if you don't follow it then don't comment on it.
