Southpeak announces Trine for PC photo

I first got my hands on Trine at E3 nestled in the corner of the Atlus booth. Having heard nothing about it up to this point, I found myself quickly enamoured with what I saw. A graphically rich, gorgeous side scrolling title, Trine uses realistic physics and multiple characters to aid you in your journey. I was in love and ready to see more, but being in my usual E3 rush, I couldn't spend as long as I liked delving into the title.

Today, SouthPeak Interactive announced they will be bringing Trine to the PC later this summer. That's excellent news for PC owners, but if you're waiting to see it pop up on PSN, I'm afraid we don't have any word on when that is going to happen. In the meantime, you can keep an eye on the game's official site, and as soon as we know more we'll deliver it to your little ears as fast as humanly possible.

SouthPeak to Publish Critically Acclaimed ‘Trine’™ on PC in North America

Receiving Critical Acclaim and Awards at E3 2009, ‘Trine’™ Features Fully Interactive Physics and Three-Player Cooperative Play

MIDLOTHIAN, VA – June 25, 2009 – SouthPeak Interactive Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: SOPK) today announced that it will publish Trine™ for PC in North America later this year.

Having received critical acclaim at E3 2009, this distinctive and absorbing fantasy game uses fully interactive physics and multiple characters to engage players on an epic journey.

The game’s beautiful graphics, combined with its immersive and challenging puzzle solving quests, has brought Trine™ nominations and awards, including winning the GameSpot Editors' Choice Award for “Best Downloadable Game” at E3 2009 in Los Angeles.

Trine™ had an amazing E3 and we can’t wait to get it into the hands of PC gamers,” said Richard Iggo, VP of Marketing at SouthPeak Interactive. “The PC platform gives as many players as possible the chance to join forces and find creative methods for completing game objectives. It’s up to them to determine how their quests will progress and how they’ll ultimately achieve victory.”

In Trine™, players work together to create and use objects to solve challenging physics-based puzzles and defeat dangerous enemies. Set in a kingdom on the verge of chaos, a warrior, a wizard, and a thief are bound by a powerful artifact known as "the Trine". Together, they must battle the forces of space, energy, and motion to put an end to the reign of the dark sorcerer that rules the kingdom.

Featuring three-player cooperative play, each character has specific talents to invent new solutions to puzzles and original ways to defeat enemies. The Wizard can use magic to create objects and new paths, the Thief can use her agility and accuracy to quickly deal with enemies, and the Warrior unleashes pure destruction everywhere he travels.

Trine™ will be available on PCs in summer 2009.  For more information visit www.southpeakgames.com.

The game isn't really on my radar, but I'm downloading the demo right now out of curiosity.

The screenshots look awesome! This game really wasn't on my radar, but I'm glad it's coming to PSN. This will likely be a "buy" (while I'm waiting on all those awesome games coming out later in the fall!)

This game look amazing, looks like a console title more than PC for me though.

This has always been coming to PC, but I guess it didn't have a publisher yet? I liked their Shadowgrounds games anyways, and this looks totally awesome.

Wait a minute. Isn't it illegal for Southpeak to be involved with a good product?

Just played the demo and it seems like a pretty solid title. The physics are a nice touch, and the atmosphere of the game is pretty spiffy. The only down side is that the demo was glitchy as hell, well for me anyway.

Nah, Southpeak published Scourge: Hive, which was pretty sweet.
