South Park XBLA game to be revealed at Comic-Con photo

Do you remember when Microsoft revealed a South Park XBLA game? Cast your mind back to E3 2008. Yep, well over a year ago, Eric Cartman was screaming something during the Microsoft press conference and then ... nothing. Nobody said anything, everybody forgot about it. Despite this, it's still coming, and it'll be shown at Comic Con.

Halo 3: ODST, Alan Wake, The Beatles: Rock Band, Left 4 Dead 2, Shadow Complex and Gears of War 2: Dark Corners are also expected to be in attendance, along with a brand new trailer for Splinter Cell: Conviction. Should be quite a hot little lineup.

It'll be interesting to see what form this South Park game will take. The long period spent underground hints that the title will be more than a simple update to the old N64 shooter. Mind you, does anyone still care about it?

Say what you want about the N64 "shooter", but any game that lets you throw yellow snowballs is just fine in my book.

I have hope that this might actually be quite good, i remember Matt and Trey commenting in interviews that they absolutely HATED how the previous South Park games were handled so they potentially have some sense of quality control.

Yay! South Park.
Hopefully it doesn't suck, like the previous South Park games...

N64 game was odd.....also season 1 was lame IMO...after they hung up the dumb "Oh my God you killed Kenny!" routine that was never funny and started doing social commentary it got way better in the later seasons

I wouldn't say that I "still" care about it, though before I heard about the XBLA release, it had crossed my mind that South Park is still a very popular and marketable franchise and that it seemed weird for it to go so long without a VG release.

My curiosity is piqued.

To be honest, I hope its not a port of the previous South Park games, and its actually something completely different.

You shouldn't need to point out South Park is better than Family guy. Humanity is lost if that isn't common knowledge.

I wonder if it's just some company porting Chef's luv shack to XBLA.

I wish south park would end...like another very long running comedy that is not funny anymore.

All the South Park games I've played got really old after about 4 hours... Let's hope that whatever the game ends up being it has more replay value than previous efforts.

Programmers who make games based on movies or tv shows should be thrown in jail and given a sentence based on the popularity of said movie or film. If it's something like Terminator, Life sentence. If it's something like South Park, Lethal Injection.

South Park on the N64, man, good times, and yet very odd considering Nintendo's policy on making kid friendly games back then.

@Chronic Logic they let rare release conkers bad fur day back then and that game is as good as it is dirty, apparently microsoft is filling the void for toilet humor in video games these days

I'm pretty much echoing the positive comments, South Park on Nintendo 64 was the shit. 4-player split-screen co-op/deathmatch was awesome. Yellow Snowballs, the turkeys, rocket launchers, terrence and phillip--wait wut? And all this on a Nintendo console(like Chronic said)? Good times.

If this is anywhere near the same concept as the N64 version, I'm sold.

whatever happened to that South Park game?[/i]
I'm still mildly interested. If they're taking that long, it actually has the posssibilty of quality.

Trying to save civilians in flooded Beaverton, evading the cops in the Go-Go Action Bronco, lurking the streets on a quest of self-adulation as The Coon, saving Indiana Jones from being violated by Spielberg and Lucas, and stopping Cartman from shutting down Family Guy in an epic slap fight. There are many directions they can take this game in. I sure hope it doesn't suck!

I just hope Trey Parker and Matt Stone are involved in the production of the game. They're both huge gamers, so it would make sense if they worked on it. They would know what would make a good South Park game better than anybody, obviously.

I would love to see an adventure game, too. Especially if it was done in the actual visuals of South Park (I had my fun with the N64 FPS too, but South Park does NOT translate well to 3D). An adventure game, switching it up between the four boys, and written entirely by Trey Parker, might be a perfect game.

South Park is my favorite TV show of all time, as its evolution is amazing to watch and the show is consistently entertaining even when it's not especially funny. A rare case of a show getting better as it gets older. Let's hope they get a great game out of it this time.

I am compelled, for obvious reasons, to say that I hope there is a part that you get to Rock Band/Guitar Hero Faith+One Songs. That would be amazing.
