Yeah, I've got to say I'm genuinely looking forward to this too, and I haven't put any real effort to watching the show for the better part of a decade (been watching ultra late night reruns on WGN and CW lately though, damn insomnia)

Either way I think, with enough effort from the guys who make it and THQ that the game could be awesome, specially if the look is lifted right out of the show. I mean.. THis could be a flash game for all we care and it'd look great if it was lifted from the show. The show proved you can make a cartoon kinda on the cheap in a short amount of time and be topical, and while surely the game won't exactly extend that line of reasoning (or could it?) it still doesn't mean transferring the shows visual sense has to be all that difficult. I'm seriously confused why no ones bothered to try before. Show's not set up in the 3rd dimension, so why have a 3D game?

I thought this was going to be download only, is this true?

I have faith in this game. With Matt and Trey writing the story should be good and as Jim said if we catch Obsidian on a good day it wont be buggy as fuck.

Cautious optimism mixed with the primal instinct that Matt and Trey = fucking gods.

All this needs is theme music where Trey says "mayun" a lot.

I'm still a little cautious, but I'm starting to warm up to the idea of an RPG set in the South Park universe. It sounds very Earthbound-ish to me.

Am I the only one who has fond memories of the South Park FPS for the N64? It wasn't that deep but my friends and I had a blast with the snowball fight multiplayer.

Obsidian is the biggest factor here. South Park is great, so it really depends on them to not fuck this up. Here's to hoping that they don't.

There's no reason for it not to, since they were given access to the art assets for the show's entire run. The biggest hurdle isn't going to be how much South Park they can cram in, but how interesting and funny they can keep it for 10, 20+ hours.

I'm old enough to remember South Park 64. If I see one single fucking snowball...

I don't think anyone can understand the horrors I've witnessed.

My hopes are sky high. The Game Informer interview with Trey and Matt was great, and they are overseeing everything that goes into the making of the game, so it should be great.

This is my "take my money now" game. Watching the interviews suggests that matt and trey are taking a big part in writing the story. Coupling that with paper mario style RPG sounds heavenly.

Don't care for South Park but I'll buy this day one because I like what Obsidian does with role-playing games. They lack polish but they're still amazing.

The tower defence game looked just like the cartoon as well.

Are you on fucking crack? How is New Vegas NOT Obsidian's game? Many people from Interplay went on to New Vegas, so the game really IS their game, despite being owned by Bethesda now. Plus, they cared more about the lore/canon than Bethesda did.

On topic though, I hope this is good. I typically don't watch a lot of South Park but I can totally see myself enjoying this game after the way it was described in Game Informer.

This, I'm still confused by that earlier comment. Obsidian is composed of people who worked on the original fallout's, fallout in a sense is Obsidian game more so than Bethesda, all bethesda did was give a crappy engine and a battle system that cries foul to the brand.

As for this game, I can't wait, Obsidian knows how to make a good rpg, if they had time to polish up their games they would be perfect.

KOTOR 2 was fine, NWN 2 was fine, Alpha Protocol is one of my favorite games ever, DS3 was decent, and New Vegas was great!

There's no reason this shouldn't be at least a fun game, and the fact it's 2D will probably lower the bug count by 90%!

The game may have a decent chance at being good fun.

Oh and please tell me that tehtimeisnow's previous comment is enough to get banned. Of all things DTOID doesn't need one of those..
